Hi everyone, i was just wondering...what are some things that you have noticed as you've gotten older? I know that some of you are teenagers, and some of you are quite a bit older, but what are some lessons that you've learned (or are learning?) As a teenager, I think that things are really confusing. People change, rumors spread, and everyone feels that constant need to fit in.

Anyway, what are some things that you've learned that might help other teenagers with growing up? I hope this topic actually goes somewhere wink lol.

Although I'm still a teenager, I don't feel confused in any way. Feeling confused is more of a cliché of teenagers, although I can imagine that many feel this way. I feel that a lot has changed in my life, just in the past year. I'd like to go into more detail, but perhaps later when I have more time.

Don't.

Growing up is overrated. Instead, just teach yourself how to act in public.

I don't feel grown up--I just feel like a very smart 10-year-old tounge2

Joking! lach1

uhh Growing up is different for everybody--for me, some think I rushed my life a bit when I got my own place--well, rather roomed with my friends, but I don't think I could've made a better move Growing up is alright, I guess--I'd rather stay the same age forever, though...neutral

I am still a teen myself, but the best piece of advice I have for you is:
Think for yourself, and whatever you think, don't be afraid to say it. If you lose friends because of an opinion, those friends wern't real freinds in the first place. Don't let religious figures, parents, and the law tell you what's wrong and right. Figure it out for yourself.

Finally, something we disaggree on. mrgeen I can't wait until I'm older, not just because of being and adult, but I want to be seen by society as an adult. For some reason being seen as young really bothers me. That is probably why I don't have my age displayed, although you can all make assumptions. siiw

I don't really care what people think of my age--most think I'm younger than I am and that's just fine with me grin It doesn't matter what age they see me as--just as long as they see ME!!!

The lessons I've learned over the past five years:

1. Try to avoid taking things seriously.
2. Sometimes you can't keep people from doing stupid stuff, and in those situations it's sometimes best to just distance yourself.
3. Sex, drugs, and fitting in are all highly overrated.
4. High school is a breeding ground for stupidity.
5. People in power are likely to abuse that power.
6. Never compromise when it comes to your dreams.
7. Always think before you act.
8. The importance of self-confidence and logical thinking cannot be overstressed.
9. Never let anyone pressure you into doing anything.
10. Sometimes you have to let people be scumbags. <-- still learning this one

I know what you eman , though it not botters me THAT much.

I really hate grown ups looking at me , and somewhat , feel "bigger" or "more worth" .

Though I ahve whiskers and my body could pass for a 20-30 eyar old wink5

I dont feel like a chicld .

I dont feel like an adult , and hope I never will feel as one wink5

Like C.S. Lewis wrote in Narnia.

Why are the dumbest childs most childish and the dumbest grown ups most grown up ? (freely translated from norwegian wink5 )

but I geuss this is a topic for the cloud

lach1 That could not be more true. ^^

As for fitting in, somehow that doesn't concern me so much. Perhaps it comes from being made fun of in middle school - now that things are better, that isn't important to me.

Yeah, I know what you mean, I've been dealing with off and on battles of super-depression ever since this school year started. But I'm just like whatever. I've grown a lot over this year. Just realizing that the people I thought were so great weren't and that they were just immature and not worth being around. I don't think I've changed or ever will, but I will grow, become more independent, and realize that I'm cool on my own. And I don't need tons of "friends" to define me. But then again, I know I have a lot of harshness just waiting in the future, but I'm going to try and stall that as much as I can. sadblauw
