I think the Pineal Gland is primarily responsible for Melatonin production, helping us get to sleep and dream, which might be why some people lean towards that as a possible "Third Eye".. ...

I'd say half of mine are under 20 seconds, the other half usually 1-2 minutes, but I've been trying to work on some techniques and have had a few up to 5-10 minutes.

Personally I tend to wake up MORE refreshed after a Lucid dream, than others;
I wonder if it may be possible that the OP is in fact having more REM states, and less Deep Sleep, which is the better ...
