Men often see female hags (succubus), while women often see male hags (incubus). At least this was the legend which arose in the Middle Ages colgate

I often see these kind of things with normal SP: one time I woke up in SP with my eyes open: the room was pretty dark and I had really trouble raising my hands. However, somehow I still managed to do this, but when I looked at my hand, it morphed into a needle like structure which then melted away into yellow bubbles. Also parts of the room melted that way. Next, SP went slowly over and with my eyes wide open I saw these illusions go away, the room went brighter until it was normally lit and I discovered I hadn't moved my arm at all. Awesome experience smile

It's an hallucination that some people experience during a sleep trouble called "sleep paralysis".
Very good info about SP and associated hallucinations there:

Ummm... I don't think the results of this poll will be very usefull unless you understand how many people sleep in what position.

Let me explain-
Lets say for every 100 people that sleeps on their back, only 2 sleep on their right side. That would make the informaion unuseable unless you factored this in. You know?

Trung of Wu, your comment is pertinent. About sleep positions, they are almost equally distributed among sleepers, as you can see on this experiment report:
http://watarts.uwaterloo.ca/~acheyne/prevent.html
It's quite the same experiment than we did, but with far more sleepers (about 6500), and the results are the same too. Results : Old Hag is more likely to happen in a supine sleep position.

Xetrov, this poll was about sleep positions related with Old Hag. Trying to know how many percent of the sleepers have Old Hag could be the subject of another poll. Btw, all these questions are already answered on the University of Waterloo site (sleeping position, average age of sleep paralyzed people, frequency of associated hallucinations, etc.)

It only happens if I sleep on my back or right side. This morning I woke up with sleep paralysis, as soon as I opened my eyes I saw something(someone) jump off my pillow and to my side. I tried to form words...I tried asking for a name and I got Brian. Very weird. I also tried to roll out, it works most of the time, but I wasn't able to. I avoid sleeping on my back or side, becuase I hate to wake up with s.p in the middle of the night when it's pitch back.

I tried asking for a name and I got Brian. Very weird.
