The ‘Keys’ to Lucid-Dreaming

stickied

What I find really annoying about my mind is that in order to think about LDs I almost have to try…it’s not like it’s naturally in my sub-conscious.
For example, today I was walking around and I was thinking about random stuff that happened today (breakfast, playing drums, etc.), and I had to actually say to myself (almost “interupt” my mind’s natural fun) “Okay, I needa talk about LDs now”. But I find it weird cause like, I’m obsessed with LDs, and I’m always on this site and stuff…

Does anyone else have this problem, or have a solution fir this problem?

Peace out,
Dili Dali

Hey, pasQuale, since you’re the founder of this site, I’d like to ask: ¿How many LD’s you have every night on average? I’d guess that you’re obviously a very advanced lucid-dreamer.

By the way, ¡congratulations on making such an awesome site for lucid-dreamers to go onto!

Yeah! Definetely pasQuale. Good question, Zhervoskepet!

In my opinion, one of the biggest keys to lucid-dreaming is… practising a technique!
It seems obvious, but some beginners have the feeling they’ll have lucid dreams just by thinking about… what could happen anyhow, but is more unlikely…

Hmmm…interesting. Thanks for the advice, Basilus West, because that’s what I do…I just think about LDs and hope it’s gonna happen… I should try some techniques…

Even though I really want to have lucid-dreams, ¡I still find myself not motivated enough to do anything to achieve that goal!

¿Suggestions?

Get motivated.
Sorry, but there is no technique for the motivation, the techniques come after that.
I guess You could read peoples Dream Diaries and let it inspire You, but it Really comes down to You.

check my DJ for my LD’s

no, i don’t have them every night. I have them now and then.

thanks :adored:

Thanks for the tips.

I agree with just about everyone, where most people fail at lucid dreaming (myself included) is usually the areas of motivation, willpower, etc.
The thing is, willpower waxes and wanes, so another tricky thing is finding the willpower to not give up when your willpower goes down.

That is so true… One thing I’ve found which sometimes helps me to strengthen my willpower, is to reread my old DJ’s, and especially the good ol’ LDs. Usually I can still remember them clearly upon reading them, and so I try to imagine myself back in those dreams as vividly as possible. I always pick the LDs with the strongest emotions or most impressive events. While visualizing, I try to reconstruct the whole play of emotions and sensations, and this alone often sparks again my willpower to have another one of these good LDs. After I’ve done that, I usually return to my recent dreams and imagine myself becoming lucid in those or what I might do while lucid. If you do this a few times a day or so, there might be a good chance that willpower returns  Ofcourse only if you have the willpower to reread your old dreams and to do these visualizations

I like to do that to. I sometimes read my dream journal, but usually I like to read about other people’s dreams on this site for inspiration. Usually that gets me nice and motivated

Patience, definately patience!! many people have dry spells of no lucid dreaming, and bad dream recall, and you have to be patient through it!

Another piece of advice I’d like to give is let it come naturally. Don’t force it…I’ve done that before! lol. If you force it, it just will not work, and you won’t ld…

hmmm… i tried some times (more just thinking about it not tried like you all say). those few LDs i had made me want more but i never really believed i could do it just like that. reading what you guys said opened my eyes(even if my bf told me so bilion times). anyone can do it and so will i!!

I’ve been having some very unusual dreams lately, and I’ve had one or two semi-lucid-dreams.

You know what? I really want to start working harder on this. I already have a screensaver on my computer that’s called “Marquee” (on Win XP) and I put it to say “¿Ar ju džrimiŋ?” (to be weird), and if I ever see it say “Are you dreaming?”, I’ll know that I am! Plus, I normally perform a reality-check whenever I see the screensaver, to start getting myself in the habit. Now all I have to do now is get in the habit of doing reality-checks every time a wake up in the morning, because then’ll turn almost all my false-awakenings into lucid-dreams! Yey!

That’s what I used to do. I used to have “ARE YOU DREAMING?” written on my wallpaper (desktop), so then whenever I saw it i’d RC! It’s a good way to remind yourself to RC!!!

So what you guys/girls say is that if I find a LD improving pattern and stick to it, evt. if I then have enough motivation it is possible to do WTF i want :eh:

Like “Living out” my signature?

(damn I hope my motivation is good enough :woah:)

A quick goide to stuff to help LD’in would hep every Beginner LD’er i think  (like me)

Hi Kenai, welcome to the forum!
Yes, I suppose what you plan to be possible, though it requires much motivation and effort. About the quick guide, don’t you find the tips in the LD4all main page are sufficient? What do you find is lacking?

Its not exactly lacking… i mean that page is great!

but for some (like me) it is a bit mutch to remember to think and do about i u know what i mean and ofcourse im motivated i mean ive gone lucid before and liked it but never made an effort to do more of it…
more like ive been going the dreams way… not going “my” way.

But reading all this LD stuff is making me want to do this realy, realy bad.

 my biggest dream would be becoming able to have a second life while my primary one sleeps

EDIT: I know that it sounds crazy(or something) but I am motivated enough to try and if you realy try it does sound…
a little bit Logic, Right?
I have 60 years and propably even a 20 year period after that
I’m not so old yet(16+)so i have about all the time in a Life
I’ll try it and see what happens after a month or so.

But it happend something wierd this day…
This morning all i rememberd from the night was the happy face of my little brother (on my fathers side)(im at my mothers house now) but about 30min-1h ago i rememberd more(took a nap) and i pictured that he was at my moms house playing his favourite game on my stationary computer… i havent used that for about a month(the game was FlatOut) i mean one whole day went and after 10 mins of sleep after dinner i had the same picture in my head but more of the dream… :woah:
