AHH Popups!!
PostPosted: Sat 29 Oct, 2005  Reply with quote

What is up with all of these recent pop up ads?! I have a popup blocker and it blocks some of them, but then other times I see these adds INSIDE the window, or I see a whole new internet explorer pop up with an ad for novahealth or something. why are all of these popups just coming out of nowhere and being poopy?! cry

because an intregal bit of phpbb coding was removed by some pesky web surfing forum termites?

i thought this desk was for the forum and not the popups?

LD4all.com and the forum cost money and undoubtably many headaches.
one way of generating revenue is by placing advertisements on the website, or pop ups from the website.
the ads make money for the site.
it happens.
a price i am MORE then happy to pay for using the forum.
so stop being all anti-ld4all and support it by supporting the ads! ;o)

the ads help keep the site running.
if you do not like them?
goto that "support LD4all" link and donate
money, and i am sure the ads will
disapear soon.
given enough money, or enough people giving moderate ammounts of money... just think what could happen if every visitor gave 1$
stats say there are about 1500 visitors per day...
so i am guessing there are about 3000 active users. (seems not everyone visists the site 73 times a day like me... gah i need a life)
if every active user gave a buck, there would be no need for the silly pop up ads... and if everyone gave two!
well ah... shinier buttons??

x

Yes, I used IE a couple of days ago while checking the speed of the site to make sure it wasn't just Firefox browser.

First forum page got me a popup. I'm glad I don't use IE anymore lol.

Going by pasquale's reply in my post I don't think the popups are intended.

But for Q's reference, I just tried IE and the popup was from http://a.as-eu.falkag.net

i rarely get them with my pop up blockers (both an internal one thats part of the browser and and external program), so i don't really think its worth complaining when you most likely only get those adds 15% of the time

thanks for the support X smile

but the popups aren't LD4all's

You should run a spy ad removal program. I know I get them too sometimes with explorer, but on firefox i'm fine

The only ads that are on LD4all for support are the google ads.

yes, it should be gone after you run adaware or spybot.

matter of fact, i'll do that right now and see if that pesky IE one is gone too.

I've never seen them, not with firefox and not with opera (currently using opera since it has become free). Hurray for alternative browsers smile

I think you might be right Q. I rarely use IE anymore.

But i wanted to umm have a few umm "extra" votes on a poll. So i cleared the cookies. It must have been a stray cookie that was being anoying. Several IE refreshes later and no popups.

It bugs me because I run spybot & adaware on a weekly basis which means it's been missing things. gah.

overspannen neutral eek2

Well I just ran SpySweeper...which actually I realised I havn't run that thing in ages...and I have over 300 traces of adware!
That is rediculous!! Explains soo much too..lol. When Icame on LD4ALL...I would get like at least 5 popups each visit..and my stupid popupblockers didn't block it. And I'm using the service pack ones! Anyways...can't believe I didn't think to run that..I'd usually not be that retarded..lol. But now when I come on the site (along with others), 0 popups. Woot! Thanks guys!

Not on a forum like this. Polls here go by your username. But on websites they track you via cookies, so just clear your cookies and they let you vote again
