Hmm, yes, that´s right.The amazon banner is ok, at least it adverts dream books, but I wouldn´t like some stupid ones in here either.
Perhaps something like a small “banner section” that you can reach under “support”?
Or, even better, no banners, just links, so you can load the site quickly, hit one the links and then go to the forum.
Got another idea:
Is it possible to open two URLs with one “link”? You could set up a blank page, so it is really fast to load, with a link that goes to the main page of the forum and to some advertiser at once.
Then everyone who likes can set this as his bookmark, instead of the forum page, and with one click he goes to your forum and at the same time donates a small amount of money.
Of course it should be voluntary, but I think many people in here would do that.
I’m glad to see something start like this. Maybe LD4all.com will have it’s own domain and webspace one day. Opening a paypal account is very smart, It makes it very quick and easy for visitors to donate. Any visitors with a pre-exisiting Paypal account can send money with just a few clicks.
The paypal registration process is very simple and it’s only 1 small page to fill out. I’m not sure if you need a credit card, I think you can use your bank/checking account # too. You can take a look at the registration page HERE.
An “advertising section” seems to be a good idea too. I’m sure pasQuale is not going to litter her beautiful site with banners or pop-up ads. The idea about a special “advertising/donation” page sounds like a good idea though! As long as the ads are a “pay per click” type program.
BTW, Q? Do you recieve royalties when we click the amazon banner? Or must we actually purchase something?
unfortunately i cannot offer a donation for several reasons.
One being i can’t use paypal i don’t use credit cards, and you can’t use chequing accounts outside of USA/Canada (or that’s how it was last time i tried.)
The prob with banners is that I don’t know any who pay you per click. Only when you actually purchase something on their site. Also, IF i would chose to add some banner, i want it having to do with the site and not some stupid casino or make money fast banner or something.
But it is indeed an idea to make a support page with things on you can click on which do generate money. So i keep that one in mind. Also, if you know of some company who offers pay-per-click banners on their site, i’d like to know about that.
You actually have to purchase something. You don’t have to purchase the books mentioned on the site, as long as you go to amazon via one of the links on ld4all I’ll get a tiny commission on your purchase at amazon.
hmm if i click on the amazon link and then bought something from my own wishlist, would you still get a commision? That would be easy enough next time i have the money to buy something.
Yep, Amazon looks where the visitor came from. If it came from here, I’ll get the commission. Doesn’t matter what you buy So you can even buy a DVD or toys or whatever they sell on amazon
Then ask people to click and drag this link onto their desktop, and use this link when entering Amazon.
I’m not sure which URL to use, the above example might work just fine. However, I think Q should have a more appropriate one for this purpose. It might look something like amazon.com/affilate/throughthemirror
As far as I know i only get commission from amazon.com. amazon.de, .fr, .uk, are separate shops. I would have to become an associate there too (like i’m now for amazon.com) for me to get the commission i get with amazon.com. I don’t know if amazon.de has the same system as .com.
In my financial situation(150 dol a month)i cant really see how could i donate just anything but i thought of another idea…
I know there are banners you hook up with your browser.I work in internet cafe so it wouldnt be hard to do so on all computers.Question is…is it somehow possibile to be done on your part Pasquale?I mean…if there was a banner like this(they pay some cents for every click u make with it or something) id make 12 comps using it.

you mean i have to find some company to pay me something when sombody clicks on their banner and the banner will be installed in your internet cafe? I have not a clue how something like that works.
No no…the banner it attached to the browser.So its on all the time…i dont know exactly how it works but it somehow counts the clicks done with this particular browser and payouts are based on the amount of that clicks.
Hope its clearer now but i`d ask someone who has better english skills and knows about computers more to explain it better.

I’m working on a support page which will have all kinds of things you can click on to support LD4all. Prob is I don’t know companies who offer money for clicks on banners. Only commission when you buy something from them. So if anyone knows of companies which offer money for clicks on their ads please post them here
Or maybe you know some other store/company which offers commission and sell things related to LD’ing…

next time I want to buy a book I’ll cough up some american dollers and buy from amazon via your site I’m sorry but I can’t donate right now; 1 I have no credet card (I’m 14) 2 my parents would think that the internet is corrupting my mind and making me pay for some cheap no-motal… bla bla bla… I don’t think they realise this is OPENING my mind not CORRUPTING it. oh well
just make one rotating banner on the site… and get everyone to click it when they first enter the forums that’ll do good since i’m 15 and make oh 150 a month with my lunch lady job (heh heh would you like fries with that hon) at my school I can still make a difference!

I did a little research on the topic i mentioned before but sadly i havent found much:(I asked few people who might have an idea about it and they say they havent seen such a banners to work with your browser for a long time now.
