The Lyrics Thread-Part III

Lou Gramm - One Dream

Maybe I’m wrong
And I should know better
To trust easily, I don’t know…

But I’ve waited so long
And I need to believe
That there must be a way
And I know I’ve got…

One dream that keeps me hangin’ on
One dream, over and over
One dream that love will find a way
Find a way, yeah, yeah

Yesterday’s gone
And all that remains of the past
Is this memory
But it takes love that is strong
And a heart that is willing
To stand a little pain
We gotta live for today

One dream that keeps me hangin’ on
One dream, dream it over and over
One dream that love will find a way
Find a way, yeah

One dream that’s all that I’m livin’ for
One dream, dream it over and over
One dream that love will find a way
Find a way, yeah, yeah
Ooh, yeah

Yesterday’s gone
And all that remains of the past
Is a memory
But it takes love that is strong
And a heart that’s pure
And can stand a little pain
Ooh, yeah, yeah now

One dream that keeps me hangin’ on
One dream, over and over
One dream that love will find a way I know, I know

One dream that keeps me hangin’ on
One dream, over and over
One dream that love will find a way Mmm, mmm
Will find a way
Love will find a way
One dream that keeps me hangin’ on
One dream, over and over
One dream that keeps me hangin’ on
One dream, over and over

Cheap Trick - In The Street

hanging out down the street
the same old thing we did last week
not a thing to do but talk to you
not a thing to do out in the street
oh yeah

mom and dad live upstairs
the music’s loud so we don’t care
mis-used now
but rock lives now
oh yeah

we’re still rockin’ in wisconsin
we’re all alright
we’re all alright
yeah, haha, oh

i’d steal the car
and drive on down
i’d pick you up and we’d drive around

not a thing to do but talk to you
not a thing to d, oh yeah
we’re still rockin’ in wisconsin
we’re all alright
we’re all alright
yeah,oh yeah,oh yeah
hello wisconsin!

JOHNOSSI - Man Must Dance :boogie:
Gee, I LOVE this song

We’re the people, the lucky
with the fragile bones
the ones who sit and worry
about getting to old
We’re the people, the happy
with the broken hearts
the ones who draw a picture
and proclaim that it´s art

But you, and you, and you and you
you’re just an animal developed into
You and you and you and you
a monkey needs to dance so do you

We’re the people, the lucky
with the fragile bones
the ones who sit and worry
about catching a cold
We’re the people, the happy
with the broken hearts
the ones who draw a picture
and proclaim that it´s art

But you, and you, and you and you
you’re just an animal developed into
You and you and you and you
a monkey needs to dance so do you

You like to do it as a child on your own
you’re in the jungle and the monkeys
take your mind from your home
How many times do they have to tell you
that it’s perfectly fine for you to dance around
naked when you’re all by yourself

Cause’ you, and you, and you and you
you’re just an animal developed into
You and you and you and you
a monkey needs to dance so do you

We’re the people, the lucky
with the fragile bones
the ones who sit and worry
about getting to old
You’re the monkey in the jungle
trying to find your place
the one who let the sunset
bring a silly kind of smile on your face

But you, and you, and you and you
you’re just an animal developed into
You and you and you and you
a monkey needs to dance so do you

You like to do it as a child on your own
you’re in the jungle and the monkeys
take your mind from your home
How many times do they have to tell you
that it’s perfectly fine for you to dance around
naked when you’re all by yourself

Cause you, and you, and you and you
you’re just an animal developed into
You and you and you and you
a monkey needs to dance so do you

I Heard Somebody Say
Devendra Banhart

I heard somebody say
That the war ended today
But everyone knows it’s goin’ still

Our motherlands and motherseas
Here’s what we believe
It’s simple
We don’t want to kill

I heard somebody say
That the war ended today
But everyone knows its goin’ still

Our motherlands and motherseas
Here’s what we believe
It’s simple
We don’t want to kill

Oh, it’s simple
We don’t want to kill
Oh, it’s simple
We don’t want to kill
Oh, it’s simple
We don’t want to kill

Some of my fav lyrics…
Marilyn Manson- “Coma White”

There’s something cold and blank behind her smile
She’s standing on an overpass
In her miracle mile
[coma:]
“You were from a perfect world
A world that threw me away today
Today to run away”

A pill to make you numb
A pill to make you dumb
A pill to make you anybody else
But all the drugs in this world
Won’t save her from herself

Her mouth was an empty cut
And she was waiting to fall
Just bleeding like a polaroid that
Lost all her dolls
[coma:]
“You were from a perfect world
A world that threw me away today
Today to run away”

A pill to make you numb
A pill to make you dumb

Within Temptation - “It’s The Fear”

It Waits for the day, I will let it out
To Give it a reason, to give it its might

I fear who I am becoming,
I feel that I am losing the struggle within
I can no longer restrain it,
My strength, it is fading
I have to give in

It’s the fear,
The fear of the dark
Its growing inside of me
They won, they will come to life
Have to save,
Save my beloved,
There is no escape
Because my fate is horror and doom

Hold down your head now,
Just let me pass by
Don’t feed my fear,
If you don’t want it out

I fear who I am becoming,
I feel that I’m losing all beauty within
I can no longer restrain it,
My strength, it is fading
I have to give in

It’s the fear,
The fear of the dark
Its growing inside of me
They won, they will come to life
Have to save,
Save my beloved,
There is no escape
Because my fate is horror and doom

Long ago, it came to me
and ever since that day,
Infected with it’s rage
But it ends today

It’s the fear,
The fear of the dark
Its growing inside of me
They won, they will come to life
Have to save,
Save my beloved,
There is no escape
Because my fate is horror and doom

Both of those bands put out some incredibly moving songs.

SYMPHONY OF DESTRUCTION-Megadeth

You take a mortal man,
And put him in control
Watch him become a god,
Watch peoples heads a’roll
A’roll…

(Chorus)
Just like the Pied Piper
Led rats through the streets
We dance like marionettes,
Swaying to the Symphony
Of Destruction

Acting like a robot,
Its metal brain corrodes
You try to take its pulse,
Before the head explodes
Explodes…

(Chorus x2)

The earth starts to rumble
World powers fall
A’warring for the heavens,
A peaceful man stands tall
Tall…

(Chorus x2)

VANESSA CARLTON

“A Thousand Miles”

Making my way downtown
Walking fast
Faces pass
And I’m home bound

Staring blankly ahead
Just making my way
Making a way
Through the crowd

And I need you
And I miss you
And now I wonder…

If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass me by
'Cause you know I’d walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you
Tonight

It’s always times like these
When I think of you
And I wonder
If you ever
Think of me

'Cause everything’s so wrong
And I don’t belong
Living in your
Precious memories

'Cause I need you
And I miss you
And now I wonder…

If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass me by
'Cause you know I’d walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you
Tonight

And I, I
Don’t want to let you know
I, I
Drown in your memory
I, I
Don’t want to let this go
I, I
Don’t…

Making my way downtown
Walking fast
Faces pass
And I’m home bound

Staring blankly ahead
Just making my way
Making a way
Through the crowd

And I still need you
And I still miss you
And now I wonder…

If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass us by
'Cause you know I’d walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you…

If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass me by
'Cause you know I’d walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you
If I could
Just hold you
Tonight

Copeland- “When You Thought You Would Never Stand Out”

In other lives
In a bulletproof suit with some friends of mine
I wrote the plotline
Only I knew who survived
And through the night
In a really fast car on an uphill climb
Blew past a danger sign
And fell through darkness, sublime
But awoke just in time

They’re gonna come to light tonight
They’re gonna come to light tonight
They’re gonna come to light tonight
But not for the last time

In younger days
I do my schoolwork while the neighbors play
But stare into space
With no feeling to convey
With no look on my face
In younger days
I’m stealing bases while my mother prays
And dreading to wake
Longing for one more play

They’re gonna come to light tonight
They’re gonna come to light tonight
They’re gonna come to light tonight
But not for the last time

I don’t know what everyone was looking at
I don’t care what everyone was laughing at
I don’t know what everyone was staring at
I think, I think that it’s me

I don’t know what everyone was looking at
I don’t care what everyone was laughing at
I don’t know what everyone was staring at
I think, I think that it’s me

Didn’t I tell you that I could hear you running out?
Didn’t I find you when I knew you were hiding out?
Didn’t I see you when you thought you’d never stand out?
Didn’t I find you? Didn’t I find you?

I don’t know what everyone was looking at
I don’t care what everyone was laughing at
I don’t know what everyone was staring at (they’re gonna come to light tonight)
I think, I think that it’s me

Didn’t I see you when you thought you’d never stand out? (I think, I think that it’s me)
Didn’t I find you? (They’re gonna come to light tonight)
I think, I think that it’s me

I don’t know what everyone was looking at
I don’t care what everyone was laughing at
I don’t know what everyone was staring at
I think, I think that it’s me

Didn’t I see you when you thought you’d never stand out?
Didn’t I find you? (They’re gonna come to light tonight)
I think, I think that it’s me

From the musical Paint Your Wagon (I should have posted it on a white wind day  )

They Call The Wind Moria
Moria
Moria
They call the wind Moria

Away out here they got a name
For rain and wind and fire
The rain is Tess, the fire Joe,
And they call the wind Moria

Moria blows the stars around
And sends the clouds a’flyin’
Moria makes the mountains sound
Like folks were up there dying

Moria
Moria
They call the wind Moria

Before I knew Moria’s name
And heard her wail and whinin’
I had a girl and she had me
And the sun was always shinin’

But then one day I left my girl
I left her far behind me
And now I’m lost, so gone and lost
Not even God can find me

Moria
Moria
They call the wind Moria

Out here they got a name for rain
For wind and fire only
But when you’re lost and all alone
There ain’t no word but lonely

And I’m a lost and lonely man
Without a star to guide me
Moria blow my love to me
I need my girl beside me

Moria
Moria
They call the wind Moria

Moria
Moria!
Blow my love to me

I Talk To The Trees
I talk to the trees
But they don’t listen to me
I talk to the stars
But they never hear me

The breeze hasn’t time
To stop, and hear what I say
I talk to them all
In vain

But suddenly, my words
Reach someone elses ear
At someone elses heart
Strings too

I tell you my dreams
And while you’re listening to me
I suddenly see them
Come true

I can see us some April night
Looking out across a rollin’ farm
Having supper in the candlelight
Walking later, arm in arm

Then I’ll tell you
How I pass the day
Thinking mainly how
The night would be

Then I’ll try to find
The words to say
All the things you
Mean to me

I tell you my dreams
And while you’re
Listening to me
I suddenly see them
Come true

FM Static- Definately Maybe

I met a girl named Tera,
And she lived in the heart of America
She liked black caddies, listened to Puff Daddy
Danced until her legs were sore
She worked around the corner,
At a dinner with a groutchy owner
And her boyfriend Shaddy takes another girl named Katie
He loves her definately maybe
Don’t think I can take it, wake me when it’s over,
It’s so far away, I wish that it was closer
I see you every day, I’m too scared to go over,
I wonder what she’d say, I barely even know her

How much longer,
Will this keep getting stronger
I wonder what she’s doin’ while I’m
singing myself to sleep

Cause he’s a faker,
So see ya later
I wonder when you’ll realize that she
means a lot more to me

I saw you in the hallway when my
Last class was just over, it was
Friday school was out tonight,
Everything seems to be alright
I said, “Yo, are to going to the
Party at the coast?” She said,
“He’s pickin me up at six again,
And I don’t wanna dissapoint my boyfriend”

How much longer,
Will this keep getting stronger
I wonder what she’s doin’ while I’m
Singing myself to sleep

Cause he’s a faker,
So see ya later
I wonder when you’ll realize that she
means a lot more to me

And she’s starin it his
picture hanging in her locker,
She’s tellin all the girls a-
bout all the things that he bought her
I saw what really happened
all thoes times he went for water,
When we were at the movie
theater watchin Harry Potter
He had his hands on every single girl he layed his
Eyes on, hate to break in to you he’s a pilon
And even when he kissed her,
He was looking over starin at her sister

How much longer,
Will this keep getting stronger
I wonder what she’s doin’ while I’m
singing myself to sleep

Cause he’s a faker,
So see ya later
I wonder when you’ll realize that she
means a lot more to me

Loser ~ Beck

In the time of chimpanzees I was a monkey
Butane in my veins and Im out to cut the junkie
With the plastic eyeballs, spray-paint the vegetables
Dog food stalls with the beefcake pantyhose
Kill the headlights and put it in neutral
Stock car flamin with a loser and the cruise control
Babys in reno with the vitamin d
Got a couple of couches, sleep on the love-seat
Someone came in sayin Im insane to complain
About a shotgun wedding and a stain on my shirt
Dont believe everything that you breathe
You get a parking violation and a maggot on your sleeve
So shave your face with some mace in the dark
Savin all your food stamps and burnin down the trailer park

Yo. cut it.

Soy un perdedor
Im a loser baby, so why dont you kill me?

Soy un perdedor
Im a loser baby, so why dont you kill me?

Forces of evil on a bozo nightmare
Ban all the music with a phony gas chamber
cuz ones got a weasel and the others got a flag
Ones on the pole, shove the other in a bag
With the rerun shows and the cocaine nose-job
The daytime crap of the folksinger slob
He hung himself with a guitar string
A slab of turkey-neck and its hangin from a pigeon wing
You cant write if you cant relate
Trade the cash for the beef for the body for the hate
And my time is a piece of wax fallin on a termite
Thats chokin on the splinters

Soy un perdedor
Im a loser baby, so why dont you kill me?
(get crazy with the cheese whiz)
Soy un perdedor
Im a loser baby, so why dont you kill me?
(drive-by body-pierce)
(yo bring it on down)
Soooooooyy…

Soy un perdedor
Im a loser baby, so why dont you kill me?
(I cant believe you)
Soy un perdedor
Im a loser baby, so why dont you kill me?
Soy un perdedor
Im a loser baby, so why dont you kill me?
(schprechen sie deutches, baby)
Soy un perdedor
Im a loser baby, so why dont you kill me?
(know what Im sayin? )

Give me Love (Give me Peace on Earth)
George Harrisson

Give me love, give me love
Give me peace on earth
Give me light, give me life
Keep me free from birth
Give me hope, help me cope
With this heavy load
Trying to touch and reach
You with heart and soul

O, my Lord…
Please, take hold of my hand
That I might understand you
Won’t you please, oh won’t you

Give me love, give me love
Give me peace on earth
Give me light, give me life
Keep me free from birth
Give me hope, help me cope
With this heavy load
Trying to touch and reach
You with heart and soul

O, my Lord…
Please, take hold of my hand
That I might understand you

Tempus Fugit
By Machinae Supremacy

Silent like a tomb
the city reaches for the sky
I’m left alone here
and I can’t remember why
Lying on a rooftop
in a vast garden of concrete
The silence echoes in the streets

See as my eyes stray to pan
across the barren surface
as monolithic structures
tower through the silence
All of man’s creations
left abandoned without purpose
I am alone yet feel its malice

And while the clear blue mid-day air
is feeling slightly awkward
as shafts of sunlight
stray across my field of view

I find new perspective
as tomorrow turns today
and in the sky I see
a soaring bird of prey
staring at the trees
I see them all begin to sway
I sense a storm is coming my way

And while the clear blue mid-day air
is feeling slightly awkward
as shafts of sunlight
stray across my field of view

I can barely see as
the sky erupts in light
hell falls all around me,
then suddenly, it’s night…

Silent like a tomb
the city reaches for the sky
I’m left alone here
and I can’t remember why
Lying on a rooftop
in a vast garden of concrete
The silence echoes in the streets

And while the clear blue mid-day air
is feeling slightly awkward
as shafts of sunlight
stray across my field of view

Then without a whisper
the atmosphere is torn
Instinct is screaming
for shelter from the storm
I can barely see as the sky erupts in light
hell falls all around me,
then suddenly, it’s night…

(Quite, err, alternative music - but you can listen it here if that doesn’t scare you  )

Regina Spektor
On the Radio

This is how it works
It feels a little worse
Than when we drove our hearse
Right through that screaming crowd
While laughing up a storm
Until we were just bone
Until it got so warm
That none of us could sleep

And all the styrofoam
Began to melt away
We tried to find some words
To aid in the decay
But none of them were home
Inside their catacomb
A million ancient bees
Began to sting our knees
While we were on our knees
Praying that disease
Would leave the ones we love
And never come again

On the radio
We heard November Rain
That solo’s really long
But it’s a pretty song
We listened to it twice
'Cause the DJ was asleep…

This is how it works
You’re young until you’re not
You love until you don’t
You try until you can’t
You laugh until you cry
You cry until you laugh
And everyone must breathe
Until their dying breath

No, this is how it works
You peer inside yourself
You take the things you like
And try to love the things you took
And then you take that love you made
And stick it into some
Someone else’s heart
Pumping someone else’s blood
And walking arm in arm
You hope it don’t get harmed
But even if it does
You’ll just do it all again

And on the radio
You hear November Rain
That solo’s awful long
But it’s a good refrain
You listen to it twice
'Cause the DJ is asleep
On the radio
(oh oh oh)
On the radio
On the radio - uh oh
On the radio - uh oh
On the radio - uh oh
On the radio

This is THE most beautiful song I’ve ever heard. I strongly recomend downloading it, as the lyrics are great, but the instrumentation completes it.

Emily, by Joanna Newsom, from the album Ys

The meadowlark and the chim-choo-ree and the sparrow
Set to the sky in a flying spree, for the sport over the pharaoh
A little while later the Pharisees dragged comb through the meadow
Do you remember what they called up to you and me, in our window?

There is a rusty light on the pines tonight
Sun pouring wine, lord, or marrow
Down into the bones of the birches
And the spires of the churches
Jutting out from the shadows
The yoke, and the axe, and the old smokestacks and the bale and the barrow
And everything sloped like it was dragged from a rope
In the mouth of the south below

We’ve seen those mountains kneeling, felten and grey
We thought our very hearts would up and melt away
From that snow in the night time
Just going
And going
And the stirring of wind chimes
In the morning
In the morning
Helps me find my way back in
From the place where I have been

And, Emily - I saw you last night by the river
I dreamed you were skipping little stones across the surface of the water
Frowning at the angle where they were lost, and slipped under forever,
In a mud-cloud, mica-spangled, like the sky’d been breathing on a mirror

Anyhow - I sat by your side, by the water
You taught me the names of the stars overhead that I wrote down in my ledger
Though all I knew of the rote universe were those pleiades loosed in december
I promised you I‘d set them to verse so I’d always remember

That the meteorite is a source of the light
And the meteor’s just what we see
And the meteoroid is a stone that’s devoid of the fire that propelled it to thee

And the meteorite’s just what causes the light
And the meteor’s how it’s perceived
And the meteoroid’s a bone thrown from the void that lies quiet in offering to thee

You came and lay a cold compress upon the mess I’m in
Threw the window wide and cried; Amen! Amen! Amen!
The whole world - stopped - to hear you hollering
You looked down and saw now what was happening

The lines are fadin’ in my kingdom
Though I have never known the way to border 'em in
So the muddy mouths of baboons and sows and the grouse and the horse and the hen
Grope at the gate of the looming lake that was once a tidy pen
And the mail is late and the great estates are not lit from within
The talk in town’s becoming downright sickening

In due time we will see the far butte lit by a flare
I’ve seen your bravery, and I will follow you there
And row through the night time
Gone healthy
Gone healthy all of a sudden
In search of the midwife
Who could help me
Who could help me
Help me find my way back in
There are worries where I’ve been

Say, say, say in the lee of the bay; don’t be bothered
Leave your troubles here where the tugboats shear the water from the water
Flanked by furrows, curling back, like a match held up to a newspaper
Emily, they’ll follow your lead by the letter
And I make this claim, and I’m not ashamed to say I know you better
What they’ve seen is just a beam of your sun that banishes winter

Let us go! Though we know it’s a hopeless endeavor
The ties that bind, they are barbed and spined and hold us close forever
Though there is nothing would help me come to grips with a sky that is gaping and yawning
There is a song I woke with on my lips as you sailed your great ship towards the morning

Come on home, the poppies are all grown knee-deep by now
Blossoms all have fallen, and the pollen ruins the plow
Peonies nod in the breeze and while they wetly bow, with
Hydrocephalitic listlessness ants mop up-a their brow

And everything with wings is restless, aimless, drunk and dour
The butterflies and birds collide at hot, ungodly hours
And my clay-colored motherlessness rangily reclines
Come on home, now! All my bones are dolorous with vines

Pa pointed out to me, for the hundredth time tonight
The way the ladle leads to a dirt-red bullet of light
Squint skyward and listen -
Loving him, we move within his borders:
Just asterisms in the stars’ set order

We could stand for a century
Starin’
With our heads cocked
In the broad daylight at this thing
Joy
Landlocked
In bodies that don’t keep
Dumbstruck with the sweetness of being
Till we don’t be
Told; take this
Eat this

Told, the meteorite is the source of the light
And the meteor’s just what we see
And the meteoroid is a stone that’s devoid of the fire that propelled it to thee

And the meteorite’s just what causes the light
And the meteor’s how it’s perceived
And the meteoroid’s a bone thrown from the void that lies quiet in offering to thee

Nine Inch Nails

Sunspots
Sunspots cast a glare in my eye
Sometimes I forget I’m alive
I feel it coming and I’ve gotta get out of its way
I hear it calling and I come 'cause I can’t disobey
I should not listen and I shouldn’t listen
But I do
Yes I do

[Chorus]
She turns me on
She makes me real
I have to apologize
For the way I feel

My life, it seems has taken a turn
Why in the name of god would I ever want to return
Peel off our skin we’re gonna burn what we were to the ground
Fuck in the fire and we’ll spread the ashes around
I wanna kill away the rest of what’s left and I do
Yes I do

[Chorus]
And nothing can stop me now
There is nothing to fear
And everything I’d ever want
Is inside a tear

Now I just stare into the sun
And I see everything I’ve done
I think I could’ve been someone
But I cannot stop what has begun
When everything is said and done
And there is nowhere left to run
I think I could have been someone
Now I just stare into the sun

Left Me for Dead
by Rob Dougan [Classic+Trip Hop] // Bluesy

You didn’t stop to look round,
You were gone before I hit the ground
You went on your way and no prayer was said
Ah, you left me for dead

You didn’t cover my face
I didn’t merit a communal grave
You set me aside and no tears were shed
Ah you left me for dead

And I say I wont stop, no, till hell is your home
Theres nowhere to hide, no, nowhere:
You’ll feel the cold of my gun at your head
Ah, you left me for dead

And its not like you stayed by my side or you called me a priest
You searched through my mouth to check for gold teeth
You were pawning my shoes as I bled
You left me for (left me for, left me for) dead

You kept on taking your time
Until it was certain I could not survive
Judas remained, you turned and fled
Ah, you left me for dead

And it didn’t trouble your mind
It did not disturb you to see me decline
You turned out my lights, you put me to bed
Ah, you left me for dead

And I say that I won’t rest my head until Hell is your home
You’ll think that you’re safe, but oh no:
You’ll feel the cold of my gun hit your head
Ah, you left me for dead

And you didn’t stay close to me, didn’t stay by my side
I was choking in blood as delight filled your eyes
You’ll burn for each word that was said
Cause you left me for (left me for, left me for) dead

(But I don’t want to search no more
Theres nowhere to hide
So why don’t you come quietly, my love
I wanted to say, to say that you sure proved the death of me
Cause now I’ve reached a dead end
And I cant go back
But if I’m going down then you’ll come with me!)

Cause you didn’t stop to look round
You were gone before I hit the ground
You went on your way and no prayer was said
Ah, you left me for dead

Cause you didn’t cover my face
I didn’t merit a communal grave
You set me aside and no tears were shed
Ah you left me for dead

[Half intelligible chant follows.]

I know, I know, the song has a rather violent theme… But wow, this song and its album, Furious Angels, are a musical finding, a treasure really. Rob Dougan, a DJ who hates Disco, made a CD which, whilst not conceptual, resembles a Greek comedy: an awesome prelude followed by a terrible fall until track 9, at which the listeners themselves feel kind of destroyed so powerful is the content of the music, and then a rise until an (arguably) optimistic, happy ending. The styles mixes the hip–hop, bluesy lyrics of Trip Hop, together with its instrumentals, beat and effects, with the structure and harmonics of Classical music. It’s revolutionary in terms of music, a masterpiece.

Silver Machine … Hawkwind

I just took a ride in a Silver Machine
And I’m still feeling mean

Do you want to ride
See yourself going by
Other side of the sky
Well I got a silver machine

I’ve got a Silver Machine…

It flies
Sideways through time
It’s an electric line
To your Zodiac sign

It flies out of a dream
It’s antiseptically clean
You’re gonna know where I’ve been

I’ve got a Silver Machine…

A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall by Bob Dylan

Oh, where have you been, my blue-eyed son?
Oh, where have you been, my darling young one?
I’ve stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains,
I’ve walked and I’ve crawled on six crooked highways,
I’ve stepped in the middle of seven sad forests,
I’ve been out in front of a dozen dead oceans,
I’ve been ten thousand miles in the mouth of a graveyard,
And it’s a hard, and it’s a hard, it’s a hard, and it’s a hard,
And it’s a hard rain’s a-gonna fall.

Oh, what did you see, my blue-eyed son?
Oh, what did you see, my darling young one?
I saw a newborn baby with wild wolves all around it
I saw a highway of diamonds with nobody on it,
I saw a black branch with blood that kept drippin’,
I saw a room full of men with their hammers a-bleedin’,
I saw a white ladder all covered with water,
I saw ten thousand talkers whose tongues were all broken,
I saw guns and sharp swords in the hands of young children,
And it’s a hard, and it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard,
And it’s a hard rain’s a-gonna fall.

And what did you hear, my blue-eyed son?
And what did you hear, my darling young one?
I heard the sound of a thunder, it roared out a warnin’,
Heard the roar of a wave that could drown the whole world,
Heard one hundred drummers whose hands were a-blazin’,
Heard ten thousand whisperin’ and nobody listenin’,
Heard one person starve, I heard many people laughin’,
Heard the song of a poet who died in the gutter,
Heard the sound of a clown who cried in the alley,
And it’s a hard, and it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard,
And it’s a hard rain’s a-gonna fall.

Oh, who did you meet, my blue-eyed son?
Who did you meet, my darling young one?
I met a young child beside a dead pony,
I met a white man who walked a black dog,
I met a young woman whose body was burning,
I met a young girl, she gave me a rainbow,
I met one man who was wounded in love,
I met another man who was wounded with hatred,
And it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard,
It’s a hard rain’s a-gonna fall.

Oh, what’ll you do now, my blue-eyed son?
Oh, what’ll you do now, my darling young one?
I’m a-goin’ back out ‘fore the rain starts a-fallin’,
I’ll walk to the depths of the deepest black forest,
Where the people are many and their hands are all empty,
Where the pellets of poison are flooding their waters,
Where the home in the valley meets the damp dirty prison,
Where the executioner’s face is always well hidden,
Where hunger is ugly, where souls are forgotten,
Where black is the color, where none is the number,
And I’ll tell it and think it and speak it and breathe it,
And reflect it from the mountain so all souls can see it,
Then I’ll stand on the ocean until I start sinkin’,
But I’ll know my song well before I start singin’,
And it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard, it’s a hard,
It’s a hard rain’s a-gonna fall.

Mr Bojangles- Billy Joel

Knew a man bojangles and he danced for you
In worn out shoes
Silver hair ragged shirt and baggy pants
The old soft shoe

He jumped so high
He jumped so high
And hed lightly touched down

Mr bojangles mr bojangles mr bojangles dance

Met him in a cell
New Orleans he was down and out
He looked to me to be the eyes of age as he
He spoke right out

He talked about life
He talked of life
He lightly slapped his leg instead

He said the name bojangles and he danced a lick
Across the cell
He grabbed his pants and took a stance
And he jumped so high

He clicked his heels
And he let go a laugh
He let go a laugh
Shook his clothes all around

Mr bojangles mr bojangles mr bojangles dance

We danced for those at minstrel shows and county fairs
Throughout the south
We spoke in tears of fifteen years
How his dog and him

They travelled about
The dog up and died
He up and died
After twenty years he still grieves

They said I dance now at every chance and honky tonks
For drinks and tips
But most the time I spend behind these county bars
Cause I drinks a bit

And he shook his head now
He shook his head
And I heard someone ask please

Mr bojangles mr bojangles hey mr bojangles dance

 sniff… this song really gets to me!

Memories- Within Temptation

[Whisper] Memories, memories, memories

In this world you tried
Not leaving me alone behind
There’s no other way
I’ll pray to the gods: let him stay

The memories ease the pain inside
Now I know why

[Chorus:]
All of my memories
Keep you near
In silent moments
Imagine you’d be here
All of my memories
Keep you near
The silent whispers, silent tears

Made me promise I’d try
To find my way back in this life
I hope there is away
To give me a sign you’re okay
Reminds me again
It’s worth it all
So I can go home

[Chorus]

Together in all these memories
I see your smile
All the memories I hold dear
Darling you know I love you till the end of time

[Chorus]

==========
Interesting band, death metal with lyrics often directly from egyptian scrolls.
And even some reenactments for ancient battlesongs and such.
