The BIG "Was this a LD?" topic - Part V

Yes! Congratulations on your first lucid dream :yay:

Well this was before i got a wii.It was about a week ago.I was in a walmart with my friends searching for a wii.Well because there were no wiis i thought is real not a dream, well it led to an RC and i made wheel barrels full of wiis appear lol.It lasted i guess 2 mins i became to excited.was this a LD?

The question is … when you created the wiis, were you actually aware that you were dreaming afterwards?
If you were aware then it was a LD

your right i was then i became excited i think so yay!that makes my total 6!thx :mrgreen_hat:

I think i’ve had many LD’s when i was young because i was always in a nightmare but i knew in the dream if i shouted i would be awakened.

I think i had one last night also, i was watching a DVD and remember having to get up and turning it off in the middle of the night because i had fallen asleep while watching it. I was confused because i thought i had already turned it off before i fell asleep. So i turned it off and low and behold when i wake up it’s back on the exact same menu and playing sounds. But i remember the first time i ‘woke’ up i was thinking to myself ‘Is this a lucid dream?’ but didn’t do any reality checks.

I moved this into the big topic :content:

Well, I had a dream last morning. I woke up at 7:30, and saw what time it was. I then fell asleep.
at 7:40, I woke up again, and told myself I need to get out of bed in order to not be late for school. However, I fell asleep.
Then, A dream started: I was standing on a wide road, (NOT the asphalt type one), one metere from it’s right edge. It had a line of trees, not realy tall although taller than me. It was automn, Because all the leaves were yellow or brown. It was quite nice. Then, Suddenly, a person I know appered in front of me for a second shouting: “This is a dream!”. She disapeared after a second. I then started to move my hand in order to do an RC, and felt almost as if I were doing this IRL. My hand moved like in a VERY dense syrup. Before I had time to perform the RC, A thought went throught my mind: “I have to wake up, so I won’t late for school!”. I then woke up.

So, the plain old question… Was it an LD?

:welcome: Welcome to LD4all TwilightDreamer! Enjoy your stay!

Congratulations! It was a perfect example of a first LD. You realize you’re dreaming but wake up before getting to do anything cool.

Unfortunate that you had to wake up for school, though.

If you ever begin to wake up in a LD against your wishes, try spinning and you can stay in the dream longer.

OK, Thanks! I will continue to try and LD today. I already have an endless list of what to do In my first, real Lucid Dream. (Flying, kinessising [tele, pyro, aero, hydro, terra…] and talking. How original )

I was dreaming this morning and I saw my brother way far out in the distance after we were separated and I said to myself, I am not walking that far, after that it got all blurry and I thought to myself, crap this is a dream, and I woke up.

yay first LD?

Well I just got started in LD a little while ago, I researched it and figured out what it is. Now a few nights ago I was in a dream, sitting in a classroom. Now at the time it all seem pretty normal until one of my friends complained to me about how his six hour class was. When I asked him he told me in Japanese(Im currently a foriegn exchange student in Tokyo) Physics, then showed me his textbook. On the cover is was supposed to read "Butsuri" or Physics in Kanji but instead it was these two old looking symbols. I didnt know what they were but then it hit me, that it didnt read Physics in Japanese. In fact my friend wasnt even in the same class as me, the classroom is all wrong. At that point it felt like the channel was changing in my mind then it went black.

 just for a few moments though … first LDs are often quite short due to the shock of finding yourself lucid.

to me, it sounds like you were nearly lucid and that you didn’t quite get to the moment when you actually realise it’s a dream :eh:

BTW :welcome: welcome to LD4all Philchan

I think I had my first LD. After about a year of practicing now, making reality checks and writing in a dream diary. Finally!!!

I was in a hallway in some ruinous skyscraper or tower. And there in the middle of the hallway I made a RC. I pinched my nose and I could breathe.
I left the building and was standing in some sort of valley surrounded by high mountains, could have been in Austria or Switzerland. It was raining. I thought, “Crap, rain in my first lucid dream!” I raised my hand pointing to the sky and tried to make the clouds move. I managed to rip a hole in the cloud cover and the sun came through.
Then I came up with the idea of flying. I started to fly over some birch trees nearby. It was awesome, navigating was a bit difficult, though.
But then I heard a voice talking (in my dream; someone was explaining something to me), I started to drift away and could suddenly feel my hands and feet on the bed. I tried to go back but I couldn’t.

However, the memories of this dream were not as vivid as I hoped them to be. Could it be possible that I dreamed of having a lucid dream (does that make sense?), or will my LDs become more vivid as my dream recall improves?

Well it all determins the lucidity level of the dream. If you want it more vivid. Rubbing hands can increase Lucidity.

Warning, long post ahead!

Hi everybody,

I’ve had weird dreams the last two nights, and I really can’t figure out if they were lucid or not. I do know the “if you realized you were dreaming, you were lucid” rule, but I can’t remember if I realized or not!
My dream recall is usually quite bad, and I’m writing this just before dinner time, so the details are vague at this point.
I should also point out that I haven’t done any “preparations” for LDing, like having a dream diary, doing RCs during daytime or such, I’ve only read small amounts on the subject in the past (not in the last month).

Last (kinda) but not least, I’m currently taking two medications that often affect sleep; Cipralex (a SSRI type drug), which can among other things cause insomnia, and Xanor Depot (aka Xanax XR, a benzodiazepine), which often, and in my case, causes drowsiness/somnolence (sleeping lots, yet feeling tired daytime). Since I started with Xanor, 10 days ago, I’ve been sleeping a LOT, about 10-11 hours a night.
Anyway, on to the story/questions.

What I remember from the night before last night is not much at this point, but I remember looking at my hands (stretching the fingers, kinda like “jazz hands”), looking away, and then looking back. When I looked back, the fingers were all screwed up, pointing in all kinds of impossible directions. I don’t think I was scared, but I also can’t remember if I realized that it was a dream or not.
I remember a scene (where the hand thing happened), somewhere in the middle of the corridor of my old school. It was pretty dark, as if it was night, and I couldn’t see either end of the corridor as I recall, which you definately can do IRL since it’s completely straight.

The next day, I spent quite some time reading about lucid dreaming, pretty much right after breakfast. Why is this significant, you ask? Well, I don’t usually wake up and think about lucid dreaming, like I suppose lots of you “vets” do!

Onto last night. I don’t know if I did any RCs during the night, but I do remember some funky stuff, like trying telekinesis, which I don’t think I have ever dreamed about before (nor thought about IRL). I reached out with my hands and kind of stared at something, and it worked. I don’t remember what, or anything else… This was in the same scene as the previous night (in fact this memory might be from that night too).
I also remember some bits about trying to get to a girl I like. First, I thought about walking there, but it seemed it would take too long (probably about 15 minutes, IRL that is), I think I was afraid I’d wake up before I got there. So, I figured I needed a faster way. My next idea was to go by car. I don’t remember why but it didn’t work… I did get a car and I do know how to drive. Last thing I remember (I think it’s the last, anyway) is going there by bike, I remember being at a part perhaps 1/3 of the way there, and that’s my last memory.

So, could this have been, perhaps only partly, LDs? The reason(s) why I ask and don’t just accept these as regular dreams is the RC in the first dream which I’ve never dreamt about before, and that I felt more active, in a way… In a regular dream, I’m like an observer, but I felt I could “think” and possibly control my actions in these dreams.

As a bonus question, how do the rest of you “remember” LDs? Do you remember that you were lucid etc, or is it just like any old dream afterwards? I suppose the former, but I still gotta ask for some experiences!

Sorry for rambling on, and thanks to those who read the whole post!

If I see a dream as a lucid dream depends on how long and strong the lucidity was, but I do see a dream as a lucid dream pretty quickly.

Was this a lucid dream?

I failed WILD before going to bed so I fell asleep, then I woke up after having a nightmare. I try WILD again but fail, so I simply fall asleep again. Now, suddenly in my dream (In the middle of a freaking dream) I stop, and I say to myself “What am I doing? This is only a dream! I can do whatever I want!”. But thinking about this it feels as if it wasn’t me saying that at all, so I suspect this to have been a false lucid dream - And this pretty much proves it:
After telling myself that I’m lucid I ran up to the nearest girl and started kissing and making out with her, then I go on to the next girl. There was never a point where I could think clear and actually do what I really want to do in a LD.
Now, in the morning I had no memory of this, only my nightmare and the ND I faded into after all the kissing, but suddenly it just came to me, everything. But I doubt this was a real LD, but a false LD is better than nothing, right? I mean, I ust be getting closer?

Indeed. But it could even be a LD. But then of very low vividness and with poor recall.

I think it was a normal dream since everything was very vague and you didn’t realise that you did not need a car, since it was a dream and you can do everything. I have had this too sometimes, I don’t think it feels any greater than the average normal dream. But this false lucid dream tells that you are on the way with lucid dreaming, believe me.

As for the bonus question, I remember my lucid dreams more vivid then normal dreams. Well, actually I remember them the same as normal dream but I remember too that I experienced them as more vivid than the average normal dream. Sometimes I don’t remember one vividly though and then I wonder if it was really a LD or maybe just a FLD. :peek:

By the way, your post may be long, but I do not think anyone minds.

i got lucid a bit last night, but i think it was during HI and not a dream proper. I think i was crossing a bridge, and trying to recall all i could from a previous dream, when i thought ‘hang on, i must be dreaming now’. but it didnt feel natural, it felt like i was imagining it, and once i was lucid it took a great effort to keep it from fading. was this an actual dream or HI?
if it was indeed HI should i have continued as if it were a dream? (taking reality checks and lucid pills for example)?

You should have at least done a RC to make sure. It might have been HI or HH.

whats the difference exactly?
