The Lyrics Thread-Part IV

Big Yellow Taxi - Joni Mitchell

They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
With a pink hotel, a boutique
And a swinging hot spot
Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got
Till its gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

They took all the trees
Put em in a tree museum
And they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to see em
Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got
Till its gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

Hey farmer farmer
Put away that d.d.t. now
Give me spots on my apples
But leave me the birds and the bees
Please!
Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got
Till its gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

Late last night
I heard the screen door slam
And a big yellow taxi
Took away my old man
Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got
Till its gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

A Winter’s Tale - David Essex

The nights are colder now
maybe I should close the door.
Anyway the snow is covered all your foot steps
and I can follow you no more.
The fire still burns at night
my memories are warm and clear.
But everybody knows
it’s hard to be alone at this time of year.
It was only a winters tale
Just another winters tale.
Why should the world ignortize
of one more love thats fail.
It’s the love that could never be
though it meant to love to you and me
on the world wide scale
with just another winters tale.
While I stand alone
The bell is ringing far away.
I wonder if you hear.
I wonder if you’re listening.
I wonder where you are today.
Good luck I wish you well
for all that wishes made be worth
I hope that love and strength with you
for the length of your time of love

Maracatu Atômico
Chico Science & Nação Zumbi in Afrociberdelia [MPB/Manguebeat]

O bico do beija-flor beija a flor, beija a flor,
E toda fauna-flora grita de amor;
Quem segura o porta-estandarte tem a arte, tem a arte
E aqui passa com raça, eletrônico, o maracatu atômico

The beak of the hummingbird beaks the bud, beaks the bud,
And all the fauna-flora screams out in love;
Those who wave in samba the standart have the art, they have the art
And here passes with race, electronic, the maracatu: atomic

Manamauê, auêia, aê color=#3366cc

Atrás do arranha-céu tem o céu, tem o céu;
E depois tem outro céu, sem estrelas.
Em cima do guarda-chuva, tem a chuva, tem a chuva,
Que tem gotas tão lindas que até dá vontade de comê-las!

Behind the skyscraper, the sky, there’s the sky, there’s the sky;
And beyond it there’s a whole other starless sky.
On top of the overhang, there’s the rain, there’s the rain,
Of water drops so beautiful that I’m even tempted to eat them!

Manamauê, auêia, aê color=#3366cc

No meio da couve-flor, tem a flor, tem a flor,
Que além de ser uma flor tem sabor;
Dentro do porta-luva, tem a luva, tem a luva,
Que alguém de unhas tão negras e tão afiadas esqueceu de pôr.

In the core of the cauliflower, there’s a flower, there’s a flower,
Which apart from being flower is full of flavour;
Inside of the glove compartment, there’s the glove, there’s the glove,
Which someone of nails so dark and sharp forgot to wear.

Manamauê, auêia, aê color=#3366cc

No fundo do para-raio, tem o raio, tem o raio,
Que caiu da nuvem negra do temporal;
Todo quadro negro é todo negro, é todo negro,
E eu escrevo seu nome nele só pra demonstrar o meu apego.

In the base of the lightning conductor, there’s the light, there’s the light,
That fell off from the darkest among all the stormy clouds;
And every single blackboard is all black, it is all black,
And I write down your name in its surface to show how much I really care.

Manamauê, auêia, aê color=#3366cc

O bico do beija-flor beija a flor, beija a flor,

Not all is translated literally, as I tried to keep to the beat, the alliterations and assonances — but the meaning is kept, overall. Here’s a link to the album, click any track name to listen to the song.

Memorize the City - by The Organ

Oh, darkness filled the sky as pools of water filled your eyes
They sparkled like phosphorescence in the bay
Although our lips barely touched
I have never felt so much
And i’d really like to feel that way again
Oh , oh , when ?

I walk through the streets and memorize the city
I count every light until i reach the shore
Sometimes i close my eyes and you’re not very pretty
Sometimes i can’t believe i’ve had those thoughts
Before

We pulled a boat down to the dock and stole two sturdy oars
I pushed you off into the dark: acrisius favors
And from above the great abyss
You threw pennies in and wished for the feeling of wanting
Nothing more

Sometimes i close my eyes
And hope that i can keep away all the darkened skies

Basic Cable - Aesop Rock

Television, all hail grand pixelated god of
Fantasy, murder scape and perspective
Fuck a sore channel changed digit
I sit with a nasty network intervenes plan
With a stable diet of my cable pirate
Yo, the doctor is in, the doctor is on
Born the bastard son of static radiance cloned to Welcome in every home
Lead a blue screen, bruised dream canopy
Victim of the cursed nursed Technicolor drunk support team
Ooh, I love all advertisements
Though accused by robot news casters who capture and pollute
Spoon fed hazardous fog to joy luck catholic squad
Please take me, please calm me, please make me a zombie
Please I want to donate my brain to the monstrous Panasonic profit
Now, twenty first century plagued
Dispersed to wide eyed glamor addict patients
telecast patrons
Blue be the propaganda banners, well, sure I’ll be a Marine
With a clean sword and blue uniform, it only takes a dollar and a dream
And I abide great idiot box power supply, fuzz vapor,
Black out of New York, hey honey, get the generator
I’m in a doom, doom generation, pacin’, ancient electric secret
Never sleepin’ to miss the AM oasis
my name is a wired heart, sloppy obligation
Turn my stilt into my guilt and have a chatter box blame frame adjacent station
Make reality scrambled and suck the life out of a hidden vandal
And loving every minute of the gimmick, change the channel
Plug it in, turn it on, prop me up against the couch
Lights out, I ain’t ever gonna have to leave my house
Satellite dish, get up on my wish list, turn me to a tyrant
Let my clean spirit dissolve through the appliance
Plug it in, turn it on, be my mother when she’s gone, great
Wipe the spittle off my chinny-chin during the breaks
If I gotta go blind I’ma do it for the love of all television kind
And that’s fine, and that’s fine…
Make me a star, I wanna touch gold
Hold me suspended in a dream, mearly inches from the screen
Deleted passions sacrificed to one electron monster
Crucify my little future to the monitor
Damn it feels good, turn on, tune in
Zoom in to hug the bug up in your family function
But the children seem to love it
Yes mother, me and wild discovery
And heard the static flock to where I sleep
By the glow of that magic box big speaker
Stereo mastered often kill the freak seekers, eyes spiraling
Tangled in the star spangled wiring
I can turn from toxicated visuals
And all the kings horses abort the loyalty to royalty
Fuck the fortress
Riddle me with glee, hoist the end all telepromter above my sleeping head
I’ll be dead by morning anyway
Color my values with mundane humor in thirty minute tickets
To feel the magnetic seal picket censorship
I want commercials twenty four-seven
I wanna shop from my bed and set an
example for all my overworked, underpaid brethren
I bond with a six string(?) correspondence
and lurking circuitry circus
With allegiance pledged beyond the glass surface
Adamant students within the fine school of possessed graduate catalysts
Channel zero addict, immaculate
It goes- big screen, little screen, any screen’ll do
Just let me hold the controller and I won’t have to murder you
Plug it in, turn it on, let my little eyes glaze
Twenty screens lined up along the borders of the maze
I wanna see the five day forecast, fourteen days in advance
So I can get my two weeks notice every time the sun dance
Plug it in, turn it on, silent fix better than nothing
Let a once divine soul feel the functions of the hypnotist
The viciousness, ridiculous, peaking a dummy’s interest
Touch the power button meet your maker, ain’t that something?
Plug it in, turn it on, say goodbye to Sunday afternoon
Fix the antenna, sit back and let disaster bloom
It’s a beautiful sight, with a most ugly intention
But I taste it everyday and bathe inside the consequences
Plug it in, turn it on, never once have you talked back to me
Your majesty, I love you, I despise you
My everyday is sitcom, soaps, news, bad Dramatization
Come along with me, my friend for the most glorious sensation

The Irony of It All - The Streets

Hello, Hello. My names Terry and I’m a law abider
There’s nothing I like more than getting fired up on beer
And when the weekends here I to exercise my right to get paralytic and fight
Good bloke fairly
But I get well leery when geezers look at me funny
Bounce 'em round like bunnies
I’m likely to cause mischief
Good clean grief you must believe and I ain’t no thief.
Law abiding and all, all legal.
And who cares about my liver when it feels good
What you need’s some real manhood.
Rasher Rasher Barney and Kasha putting peoples backs up.
Public disorder, I’ll give you public disorder.
I down eight pints and run all over the place
Spit in the face of an officer
See if that bothers you cause I never broke a law in my life
Someday I’m gonna settle down with a wife
Come on lads lets have another fight

Eh hello. My names Tim and I’m a criminal,
In the eyes of society I need to be in jail
For the choice of herbs I inhale.
This ain’t no wholesale operation
Just a few eighths and some Playstations my’s vocation
I pose a threat to the nation
And down the station the police hold no patience
Let’s talk space and time
I like to get deep sometimes and think about Einstein
And Carl Jung And old Kung Fu movies I like to see
Pass the hydrator please
Yeah I’m floating on thin air.
Going to Amsterdam in the New Year - top gear there
Cause I taker pride in my hobby
Home made bongs using my engineering degree
Dear Leaders, please legalize weed for these reasons.

Like I was saying to him.
I told him: “Top with me and you won’t leave.”
So I smacked him in the head and downed another Carling
Bada Bada Bing for the lad’s night.
Mad fight, his face’s a sad sight.
Vodka and Snake Bite.
Going on like a right geez, he’s a twat,
Shouldn’t have looked at me like that.
Anyway I’m an upstanding citizen
If a war came along I’d be on the front line with em.
Can’t stand crime either them hooligans on heroin.
Drugs and criminals those thugs on the penny coloured will be the downfall of society
I’ve got all the anger pent up inside of me.

You know I don’t see why I should be the criminal
How can something with no recorded fatalities be illegal
And how many deaths are there per year from alcohol
I just completed Grand Tourismo on the hardest setting
We pose no threat on my settee
Ooh the pizza’s here will someone let him in please
“We didn’t order chicken, Not a problem we’ll pick it out
I doubt they meant to mess us about
After all we’re all adults not louts.”
As I was saying, we’re friendly peaceful people
We’re not the ones out there causing trouble.
We just sit in this hazy bubble with our quarters
Discussing how beautiful Gail Porter is.
MTV, BBC 2, Channel 4 is on until six in the morning.
Then at six in the morning the sun dawns and it’s my bedtime.

Causing trouble, your stinking rabble
Boys saying I’m the lad who’s spoiling it
You’re on drugs it really bugs me when people try and tell me I’m a thug
Just for getting drunk
I like getting drunk
Cause I’m an upstanding citizen
If a war came along I’d be on the front line with em.

Now Terry you’re repeating yourself
But that’s okay drunk people can’t help that.
A chemical reaction inside your brain causes you to forget what you’re saying.

What. I know exactly what I’m saying
I’m perfectly sane
You stinking student lame-o
Go get a job and stop robbing us of our taxes.

Err, well actually according to research
Government funding for further education pales in insignificance
When compared to how much they spend on repairing
Leery drunk people at the weekend
In casualty wards all over the land.

Why you cheeky little swine come here
I’m gonna batter you! Come here!

You Get What You Give Lyrics

Wake up kids
We’ve got the dreamers disease
Age 14 we got you down on your knees
So polite, you’re busy still saying please
Fri - enemies, who when you’re down ain’t your friend
Every night we smash their Mercedes - Benz
First we run and then we laugh till we cry
But when the night is falling
And you cannot find the light
If you feel your dream is dying
Hold tight
You’ve got the music in you
Don’t let go
You’ve got the music in you
One dance left
This world is gonna pull through
Don’t give up
You’ve got a reason to live
Can’t forget you only get what you give

Lyrics from Jeff Magnum, of Neutal Milk Hotel

Holland, 1945

The only girl I’ve ever loved
Was born with roses in her eyes
But then they buried her alive
One evening 1945
With just her sister at her side
And only weeks before the guns
All came and rained on everyone
Now she’s a little boy in Spain
Playing pianos filled with flames
On empty rings around the sun
All sing to say my dream has come

But now we must pick up every piece
Of the life we used to love
Just to keep ourselves
At least enough to carry on

And now we ride the circus wheel
With your dark brother wrapped in white
Says it was good to be alive
But now he rides a comet’s flame
And won’t be coming back again
The Earth looks better from a star
That’s right above from where you are
He didn’t mean to make you cry
With sparks that ring and bullets fly
On empty rings around your heart
The world just screams and falls apart

But now we must pick up every piece
Of the life we used to love
Just to keep ourselves
At least enough to carry on

And here’s where your mother sleeps
And here is the room where your brothers were born
Indentions in the sheets
Where their bodies once moved but don’t move anymore
And it’s so sad to see the world agree
That they’d rather see their faces fill with flies
All when I’d want to keep white roses in their eyes

Communist Daughter

Sweet communist
The communist daughter
Standing on the sea-weed water
Semen stains the mountain tops
With cocoa leaves along the border
Sweetness sings from every corner
Cars careening from the clouds
The bridges burst and twist around
And wanting something warm and moving
Bends towards herself the soothing
Proves that she must still exist
She moves herself about her fist
Sweet communist
The communist daughter
Standing on the sea-weed water
Semen stains the mountain tops

God
John Lennon

God is a concept,
By which we can measure,
Our pain,
I’ll say it again,
God is a concept,
By which we can measure,
Our pain,
I don’t believe in magic,
I don’t believe in I-ching,
I don’t believe in bible,
I don’t believe in tarot,
I don’t believe in Hitler,
I don’t believe in Jesus,
I don’t believe in Kennedy,
I don’t believe in Buddha,
I don’t believe in mantra,
I don’t believe in Gita,
I don’t believe in yoga,
I don’t believe in kings,
I don’t believe in Elvis,
I don’t believe in Zimmerman,
I don’t believe in Beatles,
I just believe in me,
Yoko and me,
And that’s reality.
The dream is over,
What can I say?
The dream is over,
Yesterday,
I was dreamweaver,
But now I’m reborn,
I was the walrus,
But now I’m John,
And so dear friends,
You just have to carry on,
The dream is over.

System Of A Down - Roulette

I have a problem that I cannot explain,
I have no reason why it should have been so plain,
Have no questions but I sure have excuse,
I lack the reason why I should be so confused,

I know, how I feel when I’m around you,
I don’t know, how I feel when I’m around you,
Around you,

Left a message but it ain’t a bit of use,
I have some pictures, the wild might be the deuce,
Today you saw, you saw me, you explained,
Playing the show and running down the plane,

I know, how I feel when I’m around you,
I don’t know, how I feel when I’m around you,
I, I know, how I feel when I’m around you,
I don’t know, how I feel when I’m around you,
Around you, Around you, Around you…

This is one of my favorite Japanese anime songs, from Sailor Moon…It took me a while to learn how to sing it…I watched the dub of a episode with this song in it, and it was horrid! They didn’t dub any other song but this…however lost the whole song completely. They didn’t translate it, they just made other words up…

Watashi-tachi ni Naritakute
Wanting to be Together With You

Anata to deatte kara
Mune no oku de hikatteru
Itoshisa ga setsunakute
Shizuka ni hitomi wo tojita

Nan de mo nai shigusa mo
Goku futsuu no kotoba mo
Omoidasu sono tabi
Namida ga desou ni naru

Ima wa Baby Baby love
Naita yoru mo itsu no hi ni ka
Mukashi wo natsukashinde waraiaeru
Watashi-tachi ni naritakute…

Ever since I first met you
I’ve been shining in my heart
My love causes so much sorrow
I broke off my glance so quietly

Your insignificant gestures
And your ordinary words
Every time
I think of them I feel like I’m going to cry

And now it’s baby baby love
Seems like every day I’m crying through the night
I long for the past, smiling to myself
Wanting to be together with you…

Where did your long hair go
Where is the girl I used to know
How could you lose that happy glow
Oh, Caroline no

Who took that look away
I remember how you used to say
You’d never change, but that’s not true
Oh, Caroline you

Break my heart
I want to go and cry
It’s so sad to watch a sweet thing die
Oh, Caroline why

Could I ever find in you again
The things that made me love you so much then
Could we ever bring 'em back once they have gone
Oh, Caroline no

The Attic

(Van Dyke Parks)

I was there upon a four poster there. Mind touseled I came to bear some thoughts from the past amid a dash of influenza. And then I came to see in baggage the memories of truncated souvenirs. The war years. High moon I said high moon lighted high moon eye to my moon.

Far beyond the blue mist enveloped lawn the blanketed night comes on. The champagne is dead and gone. The forest around sensitive sound forest primeval. Through the panes cloud buttermilk war remains and twisted cross war refrains lunatic so high moon I said high moon lighted high moon eye to my moon.

Your age will most probably carry away the letters enveloped in carrion. Vague unpleasantries of the war. May your son’s progenitorship of the state haphazardly help him to carry on. God send your son safe home to you. High Moon. You’re eye to my moon.

By The People

(Van Dyke Parks)

Strike up the band brother hand me another bowl of your soul. Brother has a long way to go maybe baby should know his cotton mouth is too slow for the song of the forgotten South, just don’t hang us up here.

Step by step by please though proletarian am I. By chance am you "wine git out de way o’de darkies. You’d better hustle up a storm to sing this Caucasian lullaby. Sleep oh my darling now sleep.

Draw freehand over Iron Curtain. Stalk up on the trim bamboo. To footridge the bullrushes certain to know law, American express. No Caucasian flair for flim-flam will do. Step by please step by.

Weigh the small advance. There is still a chance. Let’s assume that we form a company men. No mention should the pass in revue of the show. Just understand that I prefer to be dead than red white or blue as I write sturdy crew. As you view these few Russians whose true dawn came to view long ago. So I think that you’d better strike up the band brother hand me another bowl of your soul. The song of the forgotten South just don’t hang us up here. Here the unknown is at hand and not far from my heel a tarbaby feel for the Czar. For those who are lonely well the Black sea is callin’ Georgia’s Stalin has fallen so you all come here. We now are near to the end. If you stay with the show say we all had to go to hasten to jar the few nations too far gone to step by.

Memento Mori
by Kamelot

Who wants to separate
The world we know from our beliefs
And who sees only black and white
Distinguish loss from sacrifice
Some day we may come to peace
With the world within ourselves
And I will await you
Until I close my eyes

When your time has come
You know you’ll be lonely once again
And the final winter comes to us all
Life is treacherous
But you’re not the only who must pretend

We’re a second in time
We’re the last in the line
Of the prey that walks the earth
Good and evil combined

I am the god in my own history
The master of the game
I may believe if she would come to me
And whisper out my name
Sometimes I wonder where the wind has gone
If life has ever been
Sometimes I wonder how belief alone
Can cut me free from sin

When you close your eyes
Mementos of summer retrieves your mind
Like a drizzle afternoon cleans the air
When the winter blows
You’re glad you remember you really tried

And it comes to an end
Even winter… life fall
And we all have our beliefs
Pray for mercy for all

I am a man without a mystery
The deal is done within
I will embrace the coldest winter breeze
And pay for every sin

VICTORIA, NON PRAEDA
MEMENTO MORI

UNA VOCE… VOLO, NON VALEO
DULCE ET DECORUM EST
PRO PATRIA MORI

MEMENTO MORI

So subservant in your embrace
No more denial
No run away
This is the final
My last recall
And that’s the price for what we learn
The more we know the more we yearn
Cause we’re so alone

I am a man without a mystery
The deal is done within
I will embrace the coldest winter breeze
The journey can begin
I’m still the god in my own history
I still believe that she will come to me
And whisper out my name

Some day we will come to peace
And reach beyond behind the lies
And I will await you
Until I close my eyes

“Nebraska” by Bruce Springsteen, from the album, Nebraska

I saw her standin’ on her front lawn,
just twirlin’ her baton
Me and her went for a ride sir,
and ten innocent people died

From the town of Lincoln,
Nebraska with a sawed off .410 on my lap,
Through to the badlands of Wyoming,
I killed everything in my path

I can’t say that I’m sorry,
for the things that we done,
At least for a little while,
sir me and her we had us some fun

The jury brought in a guilty verdict,
and the judge he sentenced me to death
Midnight in a prison storeroom,
with leather straps across my chest

Sheriff when the man pulls that switch sir,
and snaps my poor head back
You make sure my pretty baby is sittin’ right there on my lap

They declared me unfit to live,
said into that great void my soul’d be hurled
They wanted to know why I did what I did
Well sir I guess there’s just a meanness in this world.

In The Garage by Weezer =W=

I’ve got the dungeon Master’s Guide
I’ve got a 12-sided die

I’ve got Kitty Pryde
And Nightcrawler too
Waiting there for me
Yes I do, I do

I’ve got posters on the wall
My favorite rock group Kiss

I’ve got Ace Frehley
I’ve got Peter Criss
Waiting there for me
Yes I do, I do

In the garage
I feel safe
No one cares about my ways

In the garage
Where I belong
No one hears me sing this song
In the garage

I’ve got an electric guitar
I play my stupid songs

I write these stupid words
And I love every one
Waiting there for me
Yes I do, I do

In the garage
I feel safe
No one cares about my ways

In the garage
Where I belong
No one hears me sing this song

DISTURBED LYRICS

“Land Of Confusion”

I must have dreamed a thousand dreams
Been haunted by a million screams
But I can hear the marching feet
They’re moving into the street

Now, did you read the news today?
They say the danger has gone away
But I can see the fire’s still alight
They’re burning into the night

There’s too many men, too many people
Making too many problems
And there’s not much love to go around
Can’t you see this is a land of confusion?

This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we’re given
Use them and let’s start trying
To make it a place worth living in

Oh, superman, where are you now?
When everything’s gone wrong somehow?
The men of steel, these men of power
Are losing control by the hour

This is the time, this is the place
So we look for the future
But there’s not much love to go around
Tell me why this is a land of confusion

This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we’re given
Use them and let’s start trying
To make it a place worth living in

I remember long ago
When the sun was shining
And all the stars were bright all through the night
In the wake of this madness, as I held you tight
So long ago

I won’t be coming home tonight
My generation will put it right
We’re not just making promises
That we know we’ll never keep

There’s too many men, too many people
Making too many problems
And there’s not much love to go round
Can’t you see this is a land of confusion?

Now, this is the world we live in
And these are the hands we’re given
Use them and let’s start trying
To make it a place worth fighting for

This is the world we live in
And these are the names we’re given
Stand up and let’s start showing
Just where our lives are going to

To the Moon and Back Lyrics
Savage Garden

She’s taking time making up the reasons
To justify all the hurt inside
Guess she knows from the smiles and the look in their eyes
Everyone’s got a theory about the bitter one
They’re saying, “Mama never loved her much”
And, “Daddy never keeps in touch
That’s why she shies away from human affection”
But somewhere in a private place
She packs her bags for outer space
And now she’s waiting for the right kind of pilot to come
And she’ll say to him
She’s sayin

Chorus
I would fly up to the moon and back if you’ll be…
If you’ll be my baby
I’ve got a ticket for a world where we belong
So would you be my baby?

She can’t remember a time when she felt needed
If love was red then she was color blind
All her friends, well they’ve been trialed/tried for treason
And crimes that were never defined
She’s saying, “Love is like a barren place,
And reaching out for human faith
It’s like a journey I just don’t have a map for”
So baby’s gonna take a dive and
Push the shift to overdrive
Send a signal that she’s hanging
All her hopes on the stars
What a pleasant dream
She’s saying

Chorus
I would fly up to the moon and back if you’ll be…
If you’ll be my baby
I’ve got a ticket for a world where we belong
So would you be my baby?

Hold on, hold on …

Mama never loved her much
And, Daddy never keeps in touch
That’s why she shies away from human affection
But somewhere in a private place
She packs her bags for outer space
And now she’s waiting for the right kind of pilot to come
And she’ll say to him
She’s saying

Chorus(2x)
I would fly up to the moon and back if you’ll be…
If you’ll be my baby
I’ve got a ticket for a world where we belong
So would you be my baby?

I would fly up to the moon and back if you’ll be…
If you’ll be my baby
I’ve got a ticket for a world where we belong
So would you be my baby?
yeaaaah …

OMG I used to love that song.

This first song is the first song I pulled out of my dad’s vinyl collection (and we’re talking over 600 records) when I was about 3/4.

Enola Gay - OMD

Enola gay, you should have stayed at home yesterday
Aha words cant describe the feeling and the way you lied

These games you play, theyre gonna end it more than tears someday
Aha enola gay, it shouldnt ever have to end this way

Its 8:15, and thats the time that its always been
We got your message on the radio, conditions normal and youre coming home

Enola gay, is mother proud of little boy today
Aha this kiss you give, its never ever gonna fade away

Enola gay, it shouldnt ever have to end this way
Aha enola gay, it shouldnt fade in our dreams away

Its 8:15, and thats the time that its always been
We got your message on the radio, conditions normal and youre coming home

Enola gay, is mother proud of little boy today
Aha this kiss you give, its never ever gonna fade away

Paper Lace - Billy, don’t be hero

The marchin’ band came down along Main Street
The soldier-blues fell in behind
I looked across and there I saw Billy
Waiting to go and join the line
And with her head upon his shoulder
His young and lovely fiancée
From where I stood, I saw she was cryin’
And through her tears I heard her say

“Billy, don’t be a hero, don’t be a fool with your life”
“Billy, don’t be a hero, come back and make me your wife”
And as Billy started to go she said “keep your pretty head lo-o-ow”
“Billy, don’t be a hero, come back to me”

The soldier-blues were trapped on a hillside
The battle raging all around
The sergeant cried “We’ve got to hang on, boys”
“We got to hold this piece a’ground”
“I need a volunteer to ride up”
“And bring us back some extra men”
And Billy’s hand was up in a moment
Forgettin’ all the words she said

She said:
“Billy, don’t be a hero, don’t be a fool with your life”
“Billy, don’t be a hero, come back and make me your wife”
And as Billy started to go she said “keep your pretty head lo-o-ow”
“Billy, don’t be a hero, come back to me”

I heard his fiancée got a letter
That told how Billy died that day
The letter said that he was a hero
She should be proud he died that way
I heard she threw that letter away

The title song off of my favorite band’s new CD. They’re not well known, even within the ska genre, so check them out!!! (youtube  )

STREETLIGHT MANIFESTO LYRICS

“Somewhere In The Between”

You were gone when we found you
You were practically surrounded, you were trapped
But the opposition stalled, their blood ran cold
When they saw the look of love in your eyes

Maybe the times we had, they weren’t that bad
And everything else was part of the plan
We sang: “I don’t know where we go from here”
This is the alpha, omega, beginning and the end
And we all just idolize the dead

So you were born, and that was a good day
Someday you’ll die, and that is a shame
But somewhere in the between was a life of which we all dream
And nothing and no one will ever take that away

You had a love and that love had you
And nothing mattered, you were fine
And some will complain, they’re just bitter, what a shame
They know that loving and losing is better than nothing at all

Maybe the times we had, they weren’t that bad
And everything else was part of our path
We sang: “I don’t know where we go from here”
This is the anthem, the slogan, the summary of events
And we all just idealize the past

So you were born, and that was a good day
Someday you’ll die, and that is a shame
But somewhere in the between was a life of which we all dream
And nothing and no one will ever take that away

Maybe the times we had, they weren’t that bad
And everything else was part of the plan
We sang: “I don’t know where we go from here”
This is the alpha, omega, beginning and the end
And we all just idolize the dead

So you were born, and that was a good day
Someday you’ll die, and that is a shame
But somewhere in the between was a life of which we all dream
And nothing and no one will ever take that away

And someday soon my friends, this ride will come to an end
But we can’t just get in line again

I think this song sort of has to do with Lucid Dreaming. The song is by They Might Be Giants, and most of their songs don’t make sense, so who knows what this is really about.

The song is about Dream Signs…I think…or about not sleeping…or something…The song is sorta random…like all of their other songs…but, I like random…

Am I Awake?

By: They Might Be Giants

Am I awake?
What time is it?
When I get through this day
Can someone tell me how
And how much longer now
Am I awake?

The coffee’s cold, did I forget to drink it yet?
Did I forget?
My clothes are wet I don’t remember drinking it

When I get through this part
Will the next one be the same?
Will I be wondering
If I’m awake?

These are not the clothes I had on when I went to bed
And something else besides my hair is growing from my head
And when I close my eyes it looks the same as when I open them again

Am I awake?

What time is it?

Is it that time again?
Wasn’t it already then?
So does it have to be
The time it was again?

When I get through the day
Can’t someone tell me how
And how much longer now
Am I awake?

Am I awake?

When I get through this day
Can someone tell me how
And how much longer now
Am I awake?

When I get through this day
Can someone tell me how
And how much longer now
Am I awake?

“Stolen Car”, Bruce Springsteen, The River (Disc 2)

I met a little girl and I settled down
In a little house out on the edge of town
We got married, and swore we’d never part
Then little by little we drifted from each other’s heart

At first I thought it was just restlessness
That would fade as time went by and our love grew deep
In the end it was something more I guess
That tore us apart and made us weep

And I’m driving a stolen car
Down on Eldridge Avenue
Each night I wait to get caught
But I never do

She asked if I remembered the letters I wrote
When our love was young and bold
She said last night she read those letters
And they made her feel one hundred years old

And I’m driving a stolen car
On a pitch black night
And I’m telling myself I’m gonna be alright
But I ride by night and I travel in fear
