Hit in the head while attempting WILD?!
PostPosted: Fri 15 Jun, 2012  Reply with quote

So I decided to try WILD the other morning. I had been awake for 1 hour in the morning, then went back to bed. I laid on my back, did some slowed breathing but nothing happened, except for some annoying itches, which i successfully ignored. I laid there for about an hour, nothing was happening so I decided to roll over on my side. I felt my body immediately get more relaxed and knew I could fall asleep more easily. I tried to stay aware but let myself go in and out of sleep.

Finally, I saw swirling dots, I got the spins, the room felt darker, my hearing changed and i could hear what sounded like all the doors in my house keep opening and closing. I was a little scared. I think I concentrated too much on it and I came out of it.

I tried it again...I got the spins again. It felt like I was on a rollercoaster, like I was in warp speed. My eyes were moving all over. It was like I was observing all this from inside my body. It was weird. Then all the sudden I felt like someone hit me on the head hard! It made me jump and it made me come out of it and I was awake. I was home alone and my head didn't hurt so no one really could've hit me.

This was really the first time I had experienced something like this. I didn't know what to do while I was in this state. Do I just continue to observe but not concentrate on any of it? Was all this just classic hypnogogic sound and imagery? Was I on my way to sleep paralysis? If I had continued to passively observe would a dream have formed soon after? What should I do next time I get in this state? And one last question....Has anyone else felt like they got hit on the head like this?

About the head hit...I never have been a fan of WILD but I think it might have been psychologically in your brain because sometimes things tell your brain that you feel this or that, and maybe the sound of the doors would have sounded like something hitting you in the head. I'm thinking this because sometimes sounds can make your brain think different ways, like this man got a painless root canal with no numbing because his dentist told him the sound were toys in the background.. So yeah, I think you psyched yourself into it.

Weird. Yea could've been. Though, the second time around I didn't hear any doors slamming, but I was anticipating being scared, so maybe that had to do with it. It was all so strange.

Weird... I have no idea what this could have been besides HI and HH. Or psionic stuff. But even I'm a little skeptic on psi, so I'll just rule out that possibility.

So I never had a feeling of a hit in the head, but in one of my few succesful WILDs my knee exploded! Well, at least it felt like it did, I guess it's just normal to have sensations like these.
As for your other questions, I'm not an expert (especially not at WILD neutral ), still for me it seems like you're kind of on the right way, though I personally think that it's a bit contraproductive to stay awake for an hour after you already woke up (Out of what you wrote, I assume you didn't do WBTB), and then try to get back to sleep.
Next time, try not to concentrate too much on what you see/hear/feel, just let it happen and soon, a dream should form. At least that's what I can say, perhaps you should wait for someone more experienced to post ^^

lach2

I never had that, but I have had some weird things. It was HH. You were probably in SP, if not, really close. Sometimes you can enter SP and not even notice it. I've been tickled while in SP, I've heard many weird things and I have even felt my whole body stretching and twisting in ways that would only be possible if it had turned into rubber. The only thing I can suggest is keep trying. You should probably focus on any HH or HI without too much focus. Just pay attention without caring too much, as if you were very bored and it didn't impress you at all (which can be hard since most things are pretty awesome). Don't take my word, though, see for yourself what works and what happens when you do one thing or another... I believe the only way to get it right is to get more experience, so go have fun! siiw

Lol okay. So does the process go like this: HH ---> SP ---> LD ?

So once I push through HH, I should probably feel vibrations or something which indicates SP, then the dream is just suppose to form? I know what you mean about ignoring the HH...kinda like not getting too excited when you become lucid. The first few times I got so excited, that the dream faded quickly. But I learned to try to keep calm, i guess i should apply that to WILDing as well. Cool stuff. Thanks guys!
