Different styles of flying

Even though it’s not technically flying, webbing around like spiderman is quite fun. Never been in a city when in a lucid dream but in a ND I already have been in a similar situation. It’s a bit like I would picture bungee jumping (I never did a bungee jump). Definitly a thrill !

I just though about the fact that i already flew in my First Lucid Dream, i don’t know if i can call this flying but i used a parachute and my wind power to fly higher so … That was fun

I really want to try out a wingsuit at least once in my LDs or transform into a fantasy creature.

I’ve already flew with strange vehicles that were not normally invented to use them for flying (bicycle, huge leaves, bathtub etc.) and catapults to throw myself into the air and float in the sky like birds do in the air.

So far, the most natural and preferred method for me are swimming and superman-style flying.

I mostly fly on Goku’s cloud, or Nimbus, as I was told it’s called. Never had any wings.

If jumping really, really high counts, that’s my usual way of moving around.

Someone mentioned swimming ,that’s a good one then someone mentioned nothing just use mind control… The one thing a lot of unnatural ld don’t know is your dream is your thought and your creation ,chill out, stop thinking , and just do it , that’s what i say…its one thing creating the abilty to fly, its another to create a new feeling or emotion, try it its impossible, gods allready taken that one to the limit,LOVE LOVE LOVE,DONT BE AFRAID, NATTSY…

Personally, I fly just like Superman, with my right arm ahead  .
I wonder if some of you feel a virtual wind when flying? I do and I can tell you it feels so good ! :woo:

I’ve always just flapped my arms like they were wings, dragon or bat-like wings specifically. It works, and I can feel the wind resistance against the wing membranes, but my arms themselves never change. Oh well.
Unfortunately I’ve never been in the air IRL, so when I try to do it in a dream the imagery and proportions are all wrong. It looks like a bad video game from 1998 and that takes a lot of the fun out of it. :meh:

hI everyone !
i’m sorry if I had to introduiced myself first, but I’m not used to this forum yet

I wanted to answer about this question, because flying is something I experienced in normal dreams and this night, I had a lucid dream. I thought ; I have to have a pupose, otherwise I will lost lucidy. Si I shouted that I wanted to go to the sea ; I opened a door and I was at the top of a skyscraper roof. I felt dizzy, but it was exciting. I was afraid as I would be in real life, but I just breathed deeply and flung myself in the air. I have fallen two seconds and then I flew , just feeling myself carried by the wind.

Sorry if my english is not correct.

I have tried flopping my arms like a bird in the past, but hardly gained any lift from it.
However, if I simply do nothing, I slowly start to float upwards and then can glide by spreading my arms.
As for falling, I actually have rather strong vertigo when dropping down from something tall like a building. This has actually caused me to wake up once in the past

Flying… Im a terrible flier. I once badly hurt myself trying to fly in a LD so you wont get me doing a leap off of any high buildings. I had been trying to fly and though I could by throwing myself in the air thinking fly but all I did was basically SPLAT!! onto concrete (well not splat exactly but ended up with broken LD ribs).

I feel foolish flapping my arms like wings so wont do that. It just doesnt feel dignified!

I tried to manifest a flying carpet but couldnt get one to appear, in the end Ive opted for a flying chair. That works fine for me. (I wonder why my subconscious prefers flying chairs to magic flying carpets??)

I’ve grown large angel like wings before although I like the feeling of shooting straight up through the sky, so when I fly, I do it with my arms by my side (like Neo). I always feel extremely powerful when I fly.

Now I see flying as a piece of cake.
It was not so from the begining.
I remember myself trying to slide on slippery floor at first.
Then hesitantly I started flying a few inches above ground. In parallel movement.
But when LD emerged, then I became a rocket human, flying at will on quantum jump. Flying equals to be there already! Light speed sucks!
The funny thing is that I can return from outer space and dive inside the earth’s crust without any speed reduction. As if the movement itself is of valye, independently of the surrounding matter.
In all cases enjoyment derives from the feeling of uninterupted freedom.

I have a few methods I have used or thought of.

The Hancock: inspired by the movie “Hancock” , it’s like the superman but it destroys your take off and landing zones. And I don’t have trouble steering this one.

Cloud Walking: Run off a cliff and have clouds form under your feet. Either ride on the cloud or have one form wherever you step. Or drink some magic potion that lets you form clouds under your feet. This one could be considered running with altitude but it’s a start.

Celestial Flying: I have only ever done this twice (once intentionally) and I have no way to teach others this method. To help explain, below is an extract from my DJ.

“I said to my mates “hey you know you’re in a dream right?” and they all gave m a confused look. I then said “watch this” and began floating about a meter off the ground. They all gave me an aggressive look. I was instantly pulled backwards by an unknown force. It kept on pulling me back and away from the earth. I continued back travailing hundreds of times faster that the speed of light. I exited the solar system and then the galaxy and further. Finally it ended and I was awake on my floor doing reality checks.”

I can now fly at the speed mentioned above. I know that it is easier to teleport into space but the having infinite acceleration in a never ending (or repeating?) universe gives me an in-explainable feeling.

My biggest problem is losing touch with the sensation of the ground and waking up. (I might try conjuring a hover board or something tonight.)

Transcender, I have just experienced this for the first time.

My solution was to sing while flying. The singing worked as a focus for my concentration inside the dream.

I have recently rediscovered a flying technique from my childhood. Sometimes, while doing dream tai chi or dancing (try it, it feels awesome!) I can concentrate and let my body float in the position it is put in. Now that gravity isn’t a problem anymore, I can keep spinning or dancing upwards.

Recently I used a new extravagant flying method
[com]NOTE This is very weird and kind of gross. In the morning I was laughing loud at myself[/com]

That said, quote from my DJ:

I’m a natural flier, though I’m not sure if my flying style fit any mentioned here. Probably airbending? But it doesn’t feel like air, or even dependent on air. It does feel like I’m floating throuh an etheric medium that is too imperceptible to be swimming.

Hey guys, It’s been 4 years since I was last here but I have to share my new method which I tried just once yesterday and it instantly became one of my favorite ones.

The method is simply a wingsuit. The upper part, i.e the wings are enough. Then simply make a high jump, start flying and steer with your body. It’s very fast, extremely fun, and I felt in total control unlike with other methods. Of course you can cheat the laws of physics and also go up. Now that I think about it it’s probably not good in city environments, but I live in a countryside so it was very fun to fly around here.

I had two methods of flying.

  1. The first was kind of like standing in a pool just deep enough to touch the ground. The physics worked just like that to get started; You just kind of lift your legs to sit or bend and your torso stays where it is in the air. From there, you drift on air currents. This flows into method two;

  2. Leaning back into an air current coming from behind you, it supports you and carries you along. You’re more or less at it’s whim, but you can drift back to the ground by leaning less into the wind and giving the breeze less surface area.

There were other methods, of course (mostly involving sky mermaids because awesome), but these were the most unique of the bunch, I think.

I wouldn’t say I’m a flying master, but… I usually just put my arms at my side or whatever I feel like, and just fly? I guess it may work because it’s my normal flight method, so I just imagine it? :eh: I’ve flown in most of my lucid dreams, but if anyone needs help, I’d say somewhere to start might be just jumping in the air and hovering, then trying to move around.
Maybe I’m just a natural, but flying is easy for me, but not in a way I can explain. :content: Sometimes I get “chained” where I can’t fly that well. I thought of an idea where you get a running start, spread your arms out, and fly like an airplane. Might work, but never tried it. I’ll use my next LD to figure out some flying techniques, if not completing my goals.
