Lucidity: Level evaluation ang upgrade.

moved from Gathering :moogle:

Hi All,
As a novice member and as a previous old dreamer, I have observed that lucidity is not simply an On-Off stage of consciousness, but also an experience varying from moment to moment in brightness and glow.
In my journals, some lucid dreams have been so dulled and blurred that I think it unworthy to even call them so. Totally unimportant! Minimal awareness.
In other cases the light and glow flashing from the beginning is so intense that I can hardly keep my eyes open. Beyond words…
And that varies throughout the duration of LD most of the times!
Very rarely a LD is constant in light, energy, and most of all awareness!

So the purpose of this topic is:
1.How to evaluate any specific ld from the initial stage and from there on.
2.How to maintain an original high level that tends to fade.
3.How to train oneself to behave the ld consciousness in balance, that would constantly upgrade the tuned brain hemispheres in harmony.

Although I understand you base topic, as in the level of lucidity, the questions themselves are not totally clear to me but I will do what I can to answer them and seek clarification where possible too.

  1. I think if you are talking about awareness this is going to be difficult as it is very subjective to each persons internal experiences, and the bench marks are fluid themselves. Some researches have attempted to clarify levels of lucid by the level of awareness, local consciousness, waking memories, ability to control the dream, impact, clarity and overall sensation of lucidity and although they are all good methods in part to evaluate the dream they also fail to be transferable between different people as an exact bench mark. Similar to how we rate our own subjective experiences right now as to how “aware” we are - just because we are awake does not mean we are attentive.

I rate my lucids to something similar to the above although I don’t put much focus on waking memories unless I am attempting to complete a particular task - post of my high lucids have an excellent connection to my memories but can you always trust what you remember? I also look at stability, control, understand and impact of the dream and have developed a ping system where I can reach out and feel the entire dream and gain an understanding of my lucidity level so to speak. If you want to try seeing a difference in levels, try using voice commands such as “increase lucidity, or increase clarity” might make a interesting difference for you.

  1. practice is critical as well as a level of attention to waking life while awake helps, your level of awareness is transferable. also keep doing RC, or reminding yourself you are lucid and dreaming, it will keep your awareness high and help you avoid slipping out of lucidity into the dream mind.

  2. I am not sure I follow you here. can you clarify? if you are talking about hemispheric synchronization using alpha theta waves, or delta for that matter, it can be achieved through brain wave entrainment while awake, or trance, and you could replicate this while in the dream but I am not sure you are looking for this??

Thank you for you help. All your instructions are deeply appreciated.
As far as balanced equilibrium is concerned at both hemispheres, I am not
asking about hemispheric synchronization, but something else we all suffer from.
Synchronization refers to parallel vibe speed, balance deals with quality and polarity, aesthetics.
So:
Due to our present collective state of evolution, we are mostly operating in favor of our left hemisphere. Day and night. Even our deepest mystical LDs are understood and digested under a left brain focal point.
As far as waking life is proceeding we do have methods to pursue some right brain activity. At best with some results, but never in complete balance.
My question is what we can do to augment and even balance our right brain perception during LDs, where conditions are more favorable than IRL.
I guess that perhaps the replanning of our waking intentions towards right brain activities might bring some balance. I am not certain. Not at all.
So I wonder if you can illuminate us.

Further on, a balancing problem:
concerning the psychic tendencies developed by members gaming via LC, I wonder if these tendencies are all existentially desirable? creative? constituting growth of self?
Specfically
. Light and Darkness are accessible in LD.
. Love and Hatred-War-Conquest are available in gaming.
What are their consequences on the true dreamer’s self ?

in my personal opinion, I dont feel that the labels help to refine, in fact I think the idea of good and bad only restricts.

lets pretend that the dream world is nothing more than a place inside your mind, that no matter what happens there, it only happens to you and there is no solid connection to anyone or anything else. Therefore, by being able to experience all sides of human emotion, you are closer to understanding your true self then you would be should you restrict yourself from fear of future repercussions from the actions you take. If balance is important, then one can not be in balance by adding weight to only one side of the scale.

As for left brain right brain, I feel there is a strong misconception in older science that states we only use the left brain for items such as logic and the right brain for creative ideas etc. Recent research (and no so recent research) has demonstrated that when someone has a part of their brain brain removed, lets say on the left, they are still able to talk as the brain is a very plastic therefore other areas around the area that was damage can take over. It is true that some areas appear to have specialist functions - some general articles below to show some base information.

So to answer your question on a more general sense, if you are looking to increase your creativity, and steer away from the logical view point that you currently face in life, then I suggest doing things in the lucid dreams that really push the limits of what you think you can come up with. Paint with your mind an entire landscape , add complexity to your dream characters, really focus on the images, sensations, emotions and complexities that the dream world is offering and attempt to increase their sensations. You can use voice commands to try this as well such as “more creative now!” etc and see what happens. The idea is to let go, retain lucidity but let go of the control, keep your awareness but let the dream flow without your direct control other than to mix up the pot and see what happens. To attempt to become mindful while in the lucid dream, to live in the moment of now, as if to shake the dream up and observe the outcome.

my personal view point, to grow in mind and spirit you must travel through experiences, and if you use the lucid dream as a playing ground to experience these sensations to allow personal growth, then you may have found the best place for it. There is no solid proof at this stage that dreams happen in only our minds or if they are an AP or anything else, the only thing you can do at this stage is to trust yourself and you will find the proof that you are looking for, you will know, and at that point you will also know how far you want to take it in a lucid dream to search out new experiences be it for light or dark, but to me, they are one in the same.
