Can someone ask for a self-ban here? Another forum I go to has this thing wherein someone could ask the admin/mod to close his account (or something) for a certain period of time.
(Reasons usually vary on why people ask for this. Example: A student has exams coming in and she doesn't trust herself to stop herself from using up time here.)
EDIT: And if there is, who should someone ask to get one?

How do you delete your own posts which are all old?
Like, if you made a post recently, you can delete it right way, but when it's old, like five days old, then you can't delete it through the delete button. How do you delete them then?

you can only delete your own posts when nobody has replied to it.
ask a mod if you want something deleted if you can't do it yourself

Is this some kind of safety measure?

yes. If posters delete posts in the middle of a topic then it disturbes the discussion.

Doesn't it annoy the mods to clean up redundant posts?

if you think before you post there shouldn't be any redundant posts.
in two years I have only felt the need to alter one of my posts drastically once

To answer my own question for the benefit of the thread.
Yes, people can get a self-ban here. You can ask pasQuale if you want one.

Another question... How do you link directly to a post? I used to know but I forgot. I tried searching for how to do it but I couldn't find it.
