Why is it advised not to attempt a WILD at the start of the night, and instead with WBTB. confused

You mainly dream in REM sleep. The first REM sleep occurs after about 90 minutes after going to sleep and always in 90-minutes-intervals. So if you do WILD at the start of the night, you would probably have to wait up to 90 minutes or even more for a dream to form! WBTB is used after 3, 4.5 or 6 hours of sleep, so always after 90 minutes. This is the connection to REM. The idea behind WBTB is that you are able to go pretty straight into REM after you did WBTB.

Aaah! So how much time does it take after a WBTB. I mean like before it was taking 90 minutes, and now???

That differs. You can fall asleep in five minutes or more than a half hour. You need to experiment a lot: After how many hours do you get up, which technique do you use after WBTB, do you stay in bed, do you get up, how long do you stay awake,... The list goes on and on. However, it can help you a lot if you know whether you're a deep or light sleeper and if you can fall asleep easily again after being woken up.

WBTB usually makes wild easier if you are really tired and your mind is playin tricks on ya and all.
