i tried this technicue, although i have not been practising LDing more than a week or so. wiske during that night, i had many vivid dreams witch i didn`t have too much truble to remember and i think i voke up after each of them. siiw But there was only one dream i sucsessfully continued after waking up and i ignored all the CLEAR dreamsigns the dream was packed full of. grrr

I think i will try to work on this technique since it is the only one i belive i can master. (I´m a pessimist)

one problem with this technique is if you don't move, you can't write your dream down in your DJ! sadblauw so it's like the loss of a dream. that's what puts me off trying it. ah well, just a thought smile

Ayyyyyaaaahhhhhhhhh! I was just about to post on this topic.

I have been doing this every once in a while for the past few months. For me, though, I'm not able to do it just after I wake up from an ordinary dream--it has to be after an LD.

For me, it works like this:

I am in a regular DILD, and when it ends, everything goes black, like I'm about to wake up. Instead of waking up, I am in a state of half-sleep. I can feel my actual body lying in bed, and all I see is black (because my eyes are closed). Then, I feel a little bit of "static" in my body. That static feeling is similar to the feeling you get when circulation is cut off from your foot and your foot falls asleep. The difference is that somehow, I can control the static feeling.

Once I have that static feeling, I sort of "roll out" of bed. In real life, I don't actually move, but I feel like it's in real life. It's very unstable at first, but if you stand still and use some stabilization techniques, it will become fully stable. Presto! You begin a dream with full lucidity.

This may be the same thing as an "Out of Body Experience," since the dream begins where you are in real life. After walking around, though, you will notice things are different than real life and it's just a dream.

Some people say all of this is similar to WILD or MILD. It may be sort of the same thing, but I've never actually done this without having first been in an LD. I have also noticed that once I've "reclaimed" the dream, it is easier to do it again when I start to wake up from this new dream. That's where the "chain" part comes in. I think my record may be four LD's in a row. It's funny to watch how different each LD is, especially since you start in the exact same place each time.

I'm curious about one thing, though. Is it possible to "reclaim" or "chain" after any LD, or are there certain conditions that make it more favorable? Usually when I'm in an LD, I give no thought to having another LD after it's over. It may be that when an LD ends from something internal (like excitement), you always get a few seconds at the end to try to reclaim the LD. If you wake up from something external, like an alarm clock, I suppose there's nothing you can do about that.

Looking back over my own personal dream log, I'm starting to think that maybe all LD's give you a little chance to reclaim it (unless it's at the end of an REM cycle or something). The reason I say this is because if I've reclaimed the dream once, I almost always do it again and again. There have been occasions where I've only reclaimed the dream once. But I suppose if you get in the right frame of mind it's easier to do again, which is why we're calling it a chain technique.

Like the original poster mentioned, this can't be used as a primary LD technique, since you can't do it unless you've already been in an LD. However, it should be useful to everyone. If you've had a short LD, you could reclaim it and do this continually until you've made it to the end of the REM cycle.

One more thing!

Don't worry about not being able to record the original LD. I've never had an experience where I had trouble remembering the original LD after reclaiming the dream. You're always fully lucid in this technique, so your dream recall should be excellent.

hey everyone

I had never tried this method until today and I must say it worked like a charm, I had 3 LDs in a row!, I couldnt believe it! I mean, I know its like a WILD, but for some reason this is much easier since I dont even have to get out of bed.. 2 Lds I had were long and vivid, the last one was short but still good

I cant wait to try it again, this will definetaly be my method from now on, I hope it keeps working smile grin

Cool. Was your first LD natural, or did you do the chain starting with a regular dream?

I first started it with a regular dream, I set my mind to awaken me after I dream, so when I woke up, it was cool cause just when I was about to open my eyes I remember to not open them and I just trusted that i had awaken...

I dont know how much time passed.. maybe a minute, I started like getting dizzy and very heavy, kinda like floating, I just started tellng to my self "I am dreaming" over and over again, suddenly I appeared in the exact same place I was just before I had woken up, I was all excited..

than, after that long nice LD I woke up and did the exact same thing as before, so basically I did it 3 times, and the fourth one It didnt work, but I never thought I would have 3 IN A ROW!!!

I don't know if it was from reading this thread yesterday or what, but I had a success with the technique this morning! Interestingly, I think I started with a non-lucid dream first! I don't know how it happened, but instead of waking up completely, I was able to get that static feeling and start an LD.

After I woke up from that LD, I was able to do it again. This time, I didn't wait to get the static feeling all over my body. Perhaps most significantly, I didn't wait to get the static feeling on my eyes. Maybe that's why I was unable to see in this dream. Because everything was black and I couldn't stabilize the dream, I woke up again, only to recapture another LD.

When I woke up from my 3rd LD, for some reason it seemed like I had "used everything up," and I didn't have a chance to chain again. Like people have said, three may be some kind of average.

Well last night this would of worked for me but my house is the worst place to LD. Heres wut happened: I woke up, and as predicted opened my eyes, but shut them real fast. Outside, this guy was using a chainsaw really loud and in my house my parents were talking really loud. Then i got this pain and couldnt bear to lay down any more, forcing me to get up at 6:00 AM.

Well vacation ends in 6 days...off to school again
