I've basically succeeded on 10 days of my second attempt, however social pressures resulted in problems. I felt great up to that point though.
I've started again with run number 3, and I'm presently on day 2.
You can track my progress at http://placebo.serv.co.za where I'll summarise and discuss things at the end of each day.

I've read you shouldn't try this unless you are over 18: The non rem sleep is when growth happens.

Scientists only have 'best guesses' as to what REM and non-REM sleep is for.
Many of those guesses have already been disproved.

However in light of the fact that we know so little of what polyphasic sleep will do to a youngster, I would also not recommend it to a person below 18 years of age.

PS: It's not true that polyphasic sleep results in no NREM sleep. Apparently we end up with a shortened version of the usual 90-minute cycle.

I've tried this once before, unsuccesfully however. I kept falling asleep after my 2nd day in between my earliest period, between 2 and 6 AM. So I never became REM deprived enough for the rebound and I was basically sleep deprived for 5 days. It was probably one of the worst things ever. You really need something engaging during those early periods or you will fall asleep. I might try it again in summer.

haaa,my problem is that when i go in for a particular sleep, i never get up,even if i put 2 alarms,i just somehow get up in sleep and close them and sleep again and wake up after 4 hours wanting to kill myself.

Steve Paulina went through a detailed experiment like this. I think he used 30 minute naps though. There are a few drawbacks, like you get sleepy towards the end of each cycle between naps, and the fact that you can't do anything longer then a few hours. Just what he said though.

I've been thinking of doing this, but would this be appropriate for my age? I mean like is it good for me to be doing this to my body at a young age?
