Atheist: seems to me as if you are so sure about your not believing in any “religion”, that you don’t even question atheism any more. I think I used to be there too, but I’m very much for questioning thigns, and I think you should too if I’m right about that you don’t.

Well, here’s my results.

comdemns test

You can laugh at cannibals all you want, laugh at how primitive and uncivilized they are. Go on, laugh it up. But you won’t be laughing when we’re eating you and your family.

How about ‘Nontheist’ ?

The site states that many Unitarian Universalists are Atheist…

WHOA. YOU CANNIBALS AND NAZIS BETTER STAY AWAY FROM ME!

It does seem to be very heavily weighted against the Catholic religion while Jevovah’s Witness seem to appear higher on the lists …they have stronger views on who can be saved plus their views on blood donation etc it just appears "slightly " rigged.

My daughter did it and they said 100% Reform Judaism…and 33% Catholic. The JWs came higher than the catholic faith on hers.

Really weird.

Personally I would consider myself a mixture of Taoist (although I don’t know a huge amount about it), Buddhist and Pagan, with a sprinkling of Hinduism.

The more I look into Taoism, the more I like it. Quote from the site:

“One might be able to derive a stance on these issues, but any such stance would be attenuated by the recognition that any stance is just a conceptual abstraction that has little usefulness.”

It seems to me like the best way to live, just lie back, relax, and watch the Tao unfold.

This might seem like an ignorant question, but would karma and rebirth fit in with Taoism? They seem to make a lot of sense to me.

What Unitarian Universalists Believe
• Belief in Deity
Very diverse beliefs–Unitarian/Universalists welcome all deity beliefs as well as nontheistic beliefs. Some congregations are formed for those who share a common belief, e.g. Christianity.

• Incarnations
Very diverse beliefs, including belief in no incarnations, or that all are the embodiment of God. Some believe Christ is God’s Son, or not Son but “Wayshower.”

• Origin of Universe and Life
Diverse beliefs, but most believe in the Bible as symbolic and that natural processes account for origins.

• After Death
Diverse beliefs, but most believe that heaven and hell are not places but are symbolic. Some believe heaven and hell are states of consciousness either in life or continuing after death; some believe in reincarnation; some believe that afterlife is nonexistent or not known or not important, as actions in life are all that matter.

• Why Evil?
Most do not believe that humanity inherited original sin from Adam and Eve or that Satan actually exists. Most believe that God is good and made people inherently good but also with free will and an imperfect nature that leads some to immoral behavior. Diverse beliefs. Some believe wrong is committed when people distance themselves from God. Some believe in “karma,” that what goes around comes around. Some believe wrongdoing is a matter of human nature, psychology, sociology, etc.

• Salvation
Some believe in salvation through faith in God and Jesus Christ, along with doing good works and doing no harm to others. Many believe all will be saved, as God is good and forgiving. Some believe in reincarnation and the necessity to eliminate personal greed or to learn all of life’s lessons before achieving enlightenment or salvation. For some, the concepts of salvation or enlightenment are irrelevant or disbelieved.

• Undeserving Suffering
Diverse beliefs. Most Unitarians do not believe that Satan causes suffering. Some believe suffering is part of God’s plan, will, or design, even if we don’t immediately understand it. Some don’t believe in any spiritual reasons for suffering, and most take a humanistic approach to helping those in need.

• Contemporary Issues
The Unitarian Universalist Association’s stance is to protect the personal right to choose abortion. Other contemporary views include working for equality for homosexuals, gender equality, a secular approach to divorce and remarriage, working to end poverty, promoting peace and nonviolence, and environmental protection.

I just needed to post the meaning of it :content:

You’re right, I don’t question Atheism. I look for ways to shape it into something that makes sense to me. That shouldn’t give you the impression that I have a stubborn mind though, I’m just all for making logical sense of things, and not blindly following directions written by the hand of man. I’m happy with my beliefs.

Incidentally, I don’t think the results of this particular test could have given you that opinion about my beliefs. The questions were all:

  1. God
  2. God
  3. God
  4. God
  5. No God
  6. Don’t Care

There wasn’t much I could do.

I’d say I’m a Unitarian Universalist, seeing as how my beliefs are a great muddle of agnosticism, some Christian thrown in, plus a bunch of Zen and Buddhism. But mainly it’s muddled.

 I agree with my results. The test seemed predictable though.

  1. Extreme Christian
    to 5. Athiest

I noticed that homosexuality was often mentioned. It’s funny how that is a determining factor of my faith. The final results link to descriptions of the religions, and most descriptions explains the religion’s view on homosexuality. Very interesting addition.

Though I’m not Quaker, I was happy to see a few of those labels up top.

Hey I was just studying survey biasing in math class!

I have just noticed that Dream Addict and I both got 20% for nontheist. Which seems to suggest it is very flawed!

I actually got a good chunk of all of them! more than 50% on all but the last 5. :help:

I don’t think the test is flawed. The test isn’t saying that you’re 20% nontheist, it is saying that your beliefs are only about 20% compatible with those of the nontheist, which could be very true since the questions test more things than “do you believe in god.”

Im not gonna post them all… I just know, that I got 2 before my relgion, which made me mad. I AM NO MORMON. IM A PROTESTANT. thank you.
