Dream Light

Does it really help in induciton of lucid dreams, and is it worth getting?

It really depends… you have to learn how to use it… well, at least’ that’s what I’ve heard. But once you learn to use it, it’s quite possible to have a LD every REM period of the night. My budget is too small to fit one of those babies in. If you have a regular job and a bit of money to spend, I guess you could make an investment…

Yea, i just checked out the price and their really expensive, mabie a lil to much. None on Ebay either :content:

darn it, I was hoping for more replies than this. COME ON PEOPLE this is actually an interesting one!!

ebay shows so little for lucid dreaming… BUT I see a ‘novadreamer’ for 140 GBP (ahah 250 US dollars)… sheesh.

holy crap on lucidity.com it’s… OVER 400 BUCKS!! DARN IT! I THOUGHT IT ONLY COST 100 BUCKS! DOH!!

well… there goes the plan to save up a lot and buy it…

If you can afford the investment it is well worth it. It really helped me when I started LDing. I had to save up for 5 months to get it though

I still stick with the idea that LD induction devices are a form of cheating. What are you going to learn by using a crutch? Nothing. It will only hinder you in the future. I must say, however, that I would be willing to try one out to see how it would affect the overall experience, but as for using it as a continuous thing I would think that would be blasphemous to the lucid state. Everyone is different, and some people may not be able to LD right away. This should not discourage you. I had my first LD after 8 or 9 months of practice so it is normal for one to have such long periods of inactivity. If you wait and have lucid dreams on your own, the reward will be much greater and you will know you truly acheived it on your own. Having never owned one on my own, I really have nothing more to add to the topic, but as infection0 said we had a lack of replies, I thought I’d at least add my opinion. And opinions are like ass holes, everyone has them and they all stink. I say you will never really know unless you try it for yourself so good luck in whatever it is you do.

I second that…

LOl…i dont see how lucidity turned on with help of a flashlight isnt my own???
I must try walking home instead driving there,it might feel more mine:)

You can stick this “cheating” thing to everything you do in your life unless you you`re some monk growing and eating your own food:)

I’ve heard of Novadreamers of course, but what is an LD Light? A light that flashes randomly throughout the night?

save your money. if you want a little help, spend 15 dollars to get one of those beeping watches and set it to beep every hour or so. when you hear the beep in your dream then remember to do a reality check.

400 bucks? man, everybody’s trying to make a buck these days

does anyone know how it detects your eye movement?? you might be able to make your own(but probably not). Maybe the sensors are expensive and then they tack on more dollars to make a profit?

But does anyone know how the detection works?

The sensors are small infra-red emitters and detectors, the same thing is used in those outside lights that come on when something moves.
I personally wouldnt recomend the novadreamer, I sometimes use one and have hardly ever had any success with it.

Pass it on to polish specialist:)No need letting it go all rusty in your garage:)

If it helps I like to cheat to level up in RPGs… perhaps having a little experience in the lucid world will help you lucid dream on your own more frequently. They do say it gets easier and easier with each lucid dream as a beginner… and yeah, the beeping watch thing is an alternative. It failed for me. Oh well… btw… you can make some decent cash with that old Novadreamer on Ebay… but before you throw it away, I suggest you use it a little more. It’s a shortcut to your destination, not a teleporter…

why is this so expensive, wouldn’t it be the same thing if i got a flashlight and put it on a timer to go on in the middle of the night and shine in my face? or am i missing something about that thing that it does something special?

Well, it detects when you are dreaming… that may be expensive. Oh, the levels of brightness and flashy-ness can be adjusted… that’s all that makes it different from a flashlight with a timer… but where will you get a flashlight timer?

just rip the switch out and put a timer attached to the thing so it completes the circuit wen the timer goes off and the flashlight goes on…it ain’t so hard, i don’t know about the detecting when your dreaming, do you have to hook it up to your head or something? how’s it do that?

HAHA! or you could us a darkroom time that you plug an enlarger into. and just pulg a normal light into it. COOOO!!! Cheat the system.

I’d like to know though, Someone said that it uses inferred to deturmin the posission of your eyes durring REM sleep. Does it simply determin when your eyes are moving or witch direction their facing at a given time. cause if its the latter, and the light flashes occure when your eyes are say face forword durring REM sleep, then a flash light and a time will not work.

Well like to say hello to all of you. Im just regged here and i am pretty novice at lucid dreaming. but to the point…

Im planning to build my own version of “novadreamer”. There will be couple of infared sensors, couple of leds and maybe some kind of buzzer. Those would be attached to Atmel’s Avr microcontroller. Sensors detects when eyes are moving rapidly (REM) and Avr flashes the led’s and that buzzer. Dont know if that works but i inform you as soon as i get some results.
