Object-based induction?

Greetings again!

How many of you have tried the object-based lucid dream induction technique? I’ve read about it on many occassions, but have never tried it. I don’t know what it’s called, but I’ll give the best description I can:

“Have an object by your bed that is very distinct. Spend some time before bed and when you wake up looking at the object and intend to recognize you are dreaming when you see this object. Eventually, the object will start popping up in your dreams.”

That’s the gist of it. I’d be interested in trying it out, but I’d like to get someone’s opinion who has actually tried it. It might be a pretty good idea, especially for false awakenings.

Thank you!

Ive never tried that but I got this CD from the lucidity intitute where good ol’ Doc LaBerge himself sort of talks you through this visualization excercise whereing you relax completely and then make up a dream sign that you will incorporate and then recognize while you’re dreaming. Sort of the same idea I think.
