Anybody know what this was?

When I was much, MUCH younger I had this really weird… thing…

You know when you’re a kid and you run into your parents beds at night? Well I did that and the next morning after I had woke up, I looked in the pillow, expecting nothing out of the ordinary. But there was something out of the ordinary.
This “screen” appeared on the pillow, but it didn’t look like a normal screen, it looked like a part of the pillow. On this screen was a kind of movie in which it was really snowy where I lived (Not usual at all) and I remember being with a lot of friends, one day my father had to leave to go somewhere to get something, can’t remember where or what, and we were all scared he wouldn’t come back. In the end, he did come back, and that was where the movie ended and the pillow went back to normal. I know this wasn’t a dream because I immediately ran to my mother and told her about it, which she dismissed as a dream (She’s not the smartest of people) then I didn’t wake up so either it was real or I’m still in that dream… which I doubt.
So does anybody know what this screen-movie-pillow thing was?

Oh, and I’m sorry if this doesn’t belong here, there just didn’t seem as though there was a better place to put it.

Sounds like a pretty intense hypnagogic hallucination to me. Or hypnopompic to be more precise, because it happened when you woke up. You were probably still in a very sleepy state of mind, with dream fragments fading away before your eyes. In this state, the brain creates much theta waves if I’m correct. And theta waves are very closely related to various types of hallucinations, such as hypnagogics and daydreaming.

I think mystic is probably right about this (and he seems to know his stuff in weird “mystical” areas–hence his name, right?). How long ago did this happen? Not to discount your experience, but memories are often distorted over time. Is there any possibility that it was a highly evolved daydream or just a dream you now interpret as something that happened in waking life? It’s all very interesting and if you have any more insight, please share with us.

“A little poison now and then: That makes for agreeable dreams. And much poison in the end, for an agreeable death.” Nietzsche

It happened a very, very long time ago, I must have been about between the ages of 5 and 7 so 9 to 11 years ago. The reason I remember it so well is because it was such an odd experience, the memory has never left me or changed with time. I’m sure it wasn’t a dream, like I said in the original post I ran to my mother and told her about it and she disregarded it as a dream, so I stayed in that state of mind, reminding myself of the experience until a few hours passed to make sure it wasn’t a dream.
mystic, you’re probably right about it being that hypnagogic thing. Although I do find it odd how I could have had one at such a young age and before I started improving my dream recall and lucidity, before I was even interested in dreams, actually. Maybe I’m gifted

Children’s minds are still relatively unbound to the restrictions of human society. Their minds are highly susceptible to myths, fantasies and dreams and it’s often hard to make a distinction between waking life, dreams and fantasies, especially at the very young ages. That explains partially why children can have LDs much easier, although they might not really understand its true nature. It’s only when you grow up and let the mythical, playful and innocent world behind you, that it becomes harder to regain the ability to return to that world of dreams and fantasies.
So it’s probably not such an exception that you’ve had this strong experience at such young age. But that doesn’t have to devaluate its meaning to you personally ofcourse :content:

What’s so weird about these areas?

today i woke up and saw hypnagogics on my arm, only on my arm, not inside my eyelids (i closed them because i didn’t want to wake all the way up) just when i’d open them and look at my arm.

somehow it took me into a dream… it was very weird, I think I was awake, since my eyelids worked and they usually don’t work in a dream.

It was Harry Potter, and he had this speech bubble next to him that said “Porn?” or perhaps “Pr0n?” and then some sort of button below him… I was trying to figure out how to click it and ended up in a dream.

I don’t really think they’re weird. I just use the adjective “weird” to describe: unusual, different, out of the ordinary, etc. Blame my limited use of “describing” words.

I think it was hallucinations.
I have read that people who doesn’t get enough sleep are more likely to get hallucinations than others.
Some thinks that hallucinations have a connection with much serotonin in the brain.
While dreaming, the brain use serotonin, and this may explain why lack of sleep could cause hallucinations; it may be serotonin “build up” in the brain.
The most simple explanation about hallucinations is that you are dreaming even you are awake.

I have never experienced any hallucinations, and I think one of the reasons is that I get enough sleep.

My interpratation of what happend to you would be this. Children’s asseblage points are usualy less fixated on its haputual location wich means they can be displaced more easely. What happend to you was that your asseblage point, still being loose from dreaming asleep, moved wile you were awakr to asemble a dream sceen on your pilow.

That’s kinda cool JustAToltecDreamer. If I had thought of that I would have tried it when I was still around that age.

Neptun, I doubt it was lack of sleep. I had just woken up and don’t remember having the sleeping problems I have now when I was that age, I used to sleep easily then.
