Shamanic Drumming

Iv’e just ordered a shamanic drumming cd with the hope that it will induce lucid dreams. This website seems to support the idea- https://www.nicholasnoblewolf.com/writings/psychological_explanation_shamanic_drum.html
Has anyone had success with shamanic drumming?

No, never tried it, but I’d love to try!
I’m very interested in hearing your results. Goodluck!

I’ve heard some Shamanic drumming before, and It can induce some great relaxation … among other things.

For me the drummings puts me into a wordless state. Visualisation
while in this state is also hard to do. Though nowadays I
haven’t used this so much as I can do the same thing with just
deep relaxation.

If you are interested I could give you an url to some
monotonous drumming I made at different BPMs. The sound
is a sample so not as good as a live drumming, though in
achieving a trance state it might be better since it really is MONOTONOUS
without tempo variations.

Still haven’t tried a heartbeat rhythm, that should also be very effective.

I’ve read a lot about it… though never really used it. Shamans use it to reenter their dreams, and it should work perfectly. I think it works in the same way as Brainwave Generator does.

shamans are really cool. I have heard some stuff about the drumming and i am sure it will be very effective for OBE’s.

Sciencists who do researches on OOBES use shamannic drumming to induce that state on sparticipating students. They say it helps cuz of it regularity, heartbeat rythm and vibration every sound make.
I also look for proper shamannic drumming file but ones i have found so far have different rhytms or music to it or…
anyways,if you have a file there,id appreciate having it:)
take care

But a shaman has assistants who play drum while he’s entering in a transe, hasn’t it ? Or are there shamans who play drum themselves ?

I think most of them have assistants. Perhaps some shamans like to play themselves, but that would be a little hard if they get really into deep trance. Modern shamans probably have hifi systems, so they only need to insert a shamanic drumming cd

Haha. What a funny though. A shaman with a kickass stereo. I like it.
I’ve been looking for a drumming file, any drumming, but I can find nothing. Mystic Cloud, you said you had a URL? I would be muy pleased to have it, as, I think, would others.

here you can find a VERY good shamanic indian
shamanism.info/
my girl-friend gets here shamanic education there.
and you can order a drumming-cd, too.
have a nice trip…

Hi ppls!

Shamanic dreaming - what a great topic!

Robert Moss has used drumming in his active dreaming workshops for years. He writes a bit about it in his books. Would recommend the book Dreamgates particularly (there’s also a set of audio tapes called Dreamgates, and a new drumming cd he released)…

I’ve actually got a drum too! it’s made from deer skin… and i got to make it myself, with a friend, and of course a woman here in Melbourne named Judyt, who’d done it many times before

I’m not at all experienced, but the basic concept is to keep the drumming rather monotonous. it sets up the space and sound, which is more than conduicive to a trance state.

I’ve drummed a number of times for friends, and even my mum, who has had some pretty interesting experiences. Drumming really is quite powerful. I believe it’s important to practise breathwork, and hold clear itnention and purpose for the journey, to get the most out of the experience…

At this stage, I’m really interested in experiemnting more with my friend. 2 Drums at the same time, sets up a great sound, and doesnt’ make one’s mistakes and occasionally faulty rhythm so appearent… lol.

Nick- I too have read Robert Moss’ Dreamgates and that book was my inspiration for getting a drumming cd (which is the one he released, by the way). I’ve tried different techniques for going on a shamanic journey while listening to the cd, but so far no luck. Can you outline your method? Thanks.

I have an experience to share!

Friday I stayed up all night, and had a partial 4 minute MP3 of shamanic drumming. I went to bed around 12 noon and put the mp3 on loop to play continuously.

1 1/2 hours later I had experience 2 WILDs and an extremely long DILD.

The drums provided a steady rhythm to help me recognize and focus on the waking world. I would find myself suddenly not hearing the drums, and it would shock me back awake just enough to hear them.
I continued on this “ebb and flow” of sleep/awake and seen interesting hypnagogic imagery that would seem to instantly surround me in a dream.
I first noticed a cabin in the woods. As I approached the cabin I seen snakes everywhere! I quicky went inside to call my cousin, and there was even snakes inside. When I called her she said she also had a problem with snakes, and it seems like a “snake infestation” all over. This dream started as a WILD but I easily slipped out of lucidity and into the role of the dream. The dream was very short and I quickly slipped out of the dream and back awake to hear the drumming.
I was again “teeter tottering” between dreams and wakefulness.
After another batch of HI and I found myself in an old victorian house. This is a recurring house from my dreams, and I remember dreaming of it the night before.
As I’m walking through the house I found a “Lego” block in the middle of the floor. It raised my lucidity because I remember placing the block there the night before in another dream.
I went into the hallway where a met a group of older ladies, and they were dressed in large old Victorian dresses. They seemed “stern” like teachers, and their faces showed no happy emotion. It was just enough to make me fear them slightly. They escorted me to another room where we started to discuss dreaming. The conversation was soon interupted as I found myself slipping out of the dream. The last image of the dream is of a very close and detailed image of one of the ladies stern face.
I was again awake enough to hear the drums, but “not awake” and still on the edge of a dream.
I eventually found myself around a few of the members of the #ld4all chatroom. One of the members, Litefoot, escorted me back to his apartment. This was a start of a very long and realistic DILD. I remember exploring his apartment, and looking at his pictures on the wall and comparing the images of Litefoot with the DC litefoot. A female that I thought was his wife was sitting on the couch, and she seemed annoyed.
By then the dream seemed so long and real I thought it would be a good idea to wake from it to share with the chatroom.
I asked Litefoot “I’m going to wake up now, what should you tell me to say to the chatroom when I wake up?”
and he thought very hard, and made the sound “HMmmmmmmm, Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm” over and over.
I interupted him and said “It must be something very interesting, and something they havn’t heard before” and again this seemed to make him think harder "HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!
and then he blurted out “sister”
I thought “hmm, sister. Maybe he means Aydira of another female will be in the chatroom when I wake up.” Or maybe someone there can understand what “sister” means. So I woke myself up.

I was excited and hyper in my lucid dream, but I woke up into a sleeping tired body. Once awake I had 2nd thoughts of picking the keyboard up to type, but I did anyways.
I quickly shared my dream with Wilitus and Likvidy^ in the chatroom. I wanted to quickly write it down so I could go back to sleep. If I wrote anything down I wanted it to be “sister” so I could remember what my DC told me.
I picked up my DD and saw that “sister” was already wrote down.
I thought “How could this be? I havn’t taken the lid off of the pen?”

My written DD is usually just key words and phrases, and then later I try to put the dream together in electronic form via forum/chat/journal. I keep all keywords of a night’s dream on one line.
On a line all by itself, and what looks like a 2nd DD entry was just “sister”

Can you imagine going to write “sister” in your DD and it is already written for you?!? It was really amazing for me to experience.

No, I don’t have a sister, and if this is a recurring dream sign I’m not sure what it could mean. I have no memory of a previous dream that would make me write “sister” on a line to itself.

This experience makes me question many things:
-Is this coincidence?
-Did my DC/Subconscious know that “sister” was the first written word I would see when I woke up?
-Did my DC/Subconscious know that this was the last word of my DD?
-Did the word “sister” magically appear on the paper in my hand writing?
-Did this shamanic drumming have an influence on my dreams and/or precognative precognitive abilities?

I tried again tonight, but I slept a more proper sleep schedule and I wasn’t sleep deprived. I remember a few good dreams but nothing out of the ordinary.

“DreamAddict’s DD image of “sister””

I tried listening to my cd again, only this time I put the drumming track on repeat with the plan to just listen over and over again. After about two times through, I found myself in an extremely confusing mixture of intensely vivid HI, light NDs, and brief moments of consciousness. After an hour of making no further progress, though, I gave up. As a newbie to lucid dreaming, I think this is a strong step towards lucidity and I think that if I can learn to stay conscious throughout the twilight zone and into a dream, the shamanic drumming will prove to be a valuable tool. Besides, this first experiment occured in the middles of the day- I’ll try with WBTB and should experience different results.

can anyone share a file? Id love to try the drumming but i am too pressed for cash to buy a file online or to make/buy a drum

From what I know shamans didnt just start drumming, but they made certain preparations, they had certain goals. I mean they didnt just say ohh lets go lucid in the dream land.

Michael Harner has made 4 different drumming tapes, each about 15 minutes long. I’ve found them on soulseek (just search for “drumming”).

One thing a found really amazing in DreamAddict’s dream was

Have someone else ever stumble across something like this before?
That you place something somewhere in a dream and the finds it again a couple of dreams later?

never tried ritualistic drumming, but i have meditated on “Gregorian Chanting” mp3’s and it has put me into a really worldless state. Hard to describe what it does untill you listen to the chants. same with " Anourag " Sitar music.

Psychedelic trance and ambient can do the same.
