Gay marriage.

That’s a little wrong.
Few years ago, a law was voted in France : it allows 2 people living together and not married to have some of the facilities which exist in marriage, mainly with testimonies. Of course, it can be useful in gay unions.
Yet, just few weeks ago, there was a case where a mayor married two men. He said that nothing in the french laws could forbid it. The government didn’t agree, thus the marriage was broken and the mayor was dismissed. But the case is now on trial and it could set a precedent.

Since when penis and penis dont match? And vagina to vagina?Gods, who are you Demon to say that?
The person interested is the one to say about her/his tastes.
They even might like dogs, birds and whatever they can think of…and as long as theres no harm done…thats noones business.
Btw…vagina and vagina matches togheter perfectly…just watch it sometime, maybe you can be convinced:)
take care:)

Actually don’t count on the democrats to solve this as they are often on the fence with this issue or, at least don’t voice there true opinions on this. Most Democrats have opted for civil unions over same sex marriage.

Ultimately, I think this will be resolved by the courts. Yes, I do believe the courts will come down on the side of gay rights. That is why Bush wants to amend the US constitution. The Supreme Court can not throw out or strike down any parts of the US Constitution. All they can do is enforce and interpret it.

Amending the constution is very difficult to do. I mean the ERA could not pass and there was far more support for that than for a same sex marriage ban.

sweet, let’s get married!!!

now if only you would adopt my circumcision views.

"I’m really bad at this by the way, probably several gaping holes i’ve missed. Just a disclaimer so no one flames me…

Starting with discrimination against gays, then against minors. We’ll have our underage sex…"

amen, and nice innuendo with the “gaping holes”… statutory rape is the stupidest thing ever…
img8.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img8&image=13292xb8.jpg
look at this h0tt chick… 23 years old, statutory rape… anyone over the age of 12 would be GLAD to be “raped” by her… gahhhh… why didn’t I get in on that? (no 23 on 12 sex is a bit … hmm… but… you know say with a 16 year old, it’s weird but it’s natural and they both want it)

i’d consider doing 13 and up… it’s a bit of an age strecth (me being 18 ) but if they seem mature enough to know about safe sex, and you know, they just want to get it on, why dscriminate? at 13 i’d have done 18 year old chicks, you’d better believe it (well except i had “morals” back then)

going even more off topic it’s sick that you know like an 18 year old might be with a 16 year old, say, dating, in california, and then their parents will get mad and get the 18 year old arrested for “statutory rape” and then he’ll probably be getting raped in prison and have his life ruined for something completely cool and even acceptable by society (think of it as a senior dating a sophomore, happens all the time… that or he breaks up with her and she gets pissed off and cries “rape” to the authorities and he’s in jail without question… wtf…)

I think we are going down the slippery slope here. Allowing (A) gay marriage is not going to lead to (B) underage sex. How you made the jump from A to B there defies my logic.

I do have to disagree with you on this. There is a need for this law however, they vary from state to state and are often a little one sided. The law needs to be updated but, is necessary I think.

i don’t think he said they were, i think he just had sex on his mind.

i agree there need to be laws and they should be updated, it doesn’t hurt judges to be leniant in violation of statutory rape laws if there is not an obscene age margin, you can be 5-6 years older than a high school student while simultaneously being in high school, and society seems to support high school kids doing each other.

I mean I was 13 in highschool and some people leave it at 19… it’s a bit of a stretch but you know, just allow for common sense in our legislation, it doesn’t need to be so black and white, right and wrong, etc.

In the situation you described I agree there should be room for leniency . In some states the older person can not be charged unless he/she is more than 4 or 5 years older than the younger person or the older person has to be over the age of 21.

However, no state that I know of protects the older person when the victim lies about his/her age.

Anyway, going off topic here

I’ll join you.

I get tired of padded poll results. Part of a class my psycologist friend had at uni was about how to skew and pad results, so that whatever you were working on showed in your favor.

If the sanctity of marriage were really a concern, why isn’t everyone upset about the 2 out of 3 divorce rate in our state?

In my peer group, at my age, all my gay and lesbian friends are couples. Their children are delightful. Quite unlike the straight divorced couples children who boing around like a pinball machine and throw tantrums. Just my experience. They are just human beings who want the same things out of life that all the rest of us do.

A choice? I don’t think so. Why would some one choose to live in this society as a gay person? I know both sexes that tried to live a straight life because of family and church. They usually stayed trapped until their kids were older, then they could escape the misery of being someone they were not.

Why? I hear this all the time where I live. What are you afraid of? If it happens to me, I’m a bit flattered and then I walk away. Are you afraid you might be homosexual? Ass kicking starts when you stop using words to communicate. It should be no surprise that we have an ass-kicking leader with an iq of 97. Hmmm. Preach tolerance and kick ass if they don’t agree with you, or are a different race or religion. Wow. I bet Thomas Jefferson is spinning in his grave so fast it’s smokin’!

Predudice is a learned behavior. I consider it a form of environmental retardation.

The gay marriage issue is being used as a political distraction from the things we need to be paying attention to. Divided we fall, remember? The current admin is counting on it.

:eh:

out of curiosity, green eyes, where about (general area) of OK might you live?

To be honest I am surprised this did not trigger a hot debate. So far only one post against and all the others for. I guess that says something about us as a community.

Me too. I thought it was going to be one of those 10 pagers.
But yeah, I was thinking about sex at the time.
Eh… but still, as a minor, I think these restrictive laws are just too big-brother ish.

I didn’t put any innuendo about gaping holes?
Huh? I was merely saying that I’m bad at arguments, the other day this guy (republican) clowned me so badly on my views on taxes that I could’ve cried.

I don’t understand how people could stand to have sex with their own sex, but yeah, REAL love is between two minds and has nothing to do with the body at all… and it’s the love that marriage celebrates.

Really its the republicans that are pushing this. I know that the democrats do oppose it, but they are much less likely to act on it. For the same reason why they think abortion is wrong, but they think it is more important to give a woman the right to choose. One thing about being a more liberal party like the democrats is the fact that you get more freedom when it comes to stuff like gay unions and abortions.

2/3 of the states would have to ratify the amendment, and I very highly doubt that will happen. I don’t know if it is true or not, but I think the courts can strike down something in the constitution if it is unjustified which this seems like it could be called that.

This really reminds me of my graduation in 2003. There was a picket line in front of my graduation because our class president was gay and black and got a big scholarship. And of course the people protesting were all from a religious group.

I live about 40 miles north of Tulsa in the middle of nowhere in the woods. The nearest village (of about 200 people) is about 7 miles from me. I’m about 11 miles from Oologah Lake.

With the cabin here as our home base, dh and I (and later our 3 kids) traveled and lived all over the US. We also lived in Aruba for a few months. If I could go back to live in any of those places, it would be Anaconda, Montana.

What part of OK do you live in, HR?

Re: Dems vs. Rep…A democrat will do more for us as a general population by accident than a republican will do for us on purpose.

As a general rule that is true. However as things apply to the gay marriage the democrats are not taking the right path on this one. Most opting for civil unions rather than marriage.

democrats and republicans are almost indsituingishable, honestly… Oklahoman democrats… if they can be even called that, are just as bad as the stereotypical conservative Republican.

I mean sure they have their differences but I mean… Kerry himself is against gay marriage, he just doesn’t want to make any laws against it… from what I gather.

and I live near Tulsa as well.

I don’t know what he personally believes but, that is what he is saying in his campaign.

Sadly, this is true. However, we live in the buckle of the bible belt and that shadows everything.

Kerry may not be wonderful, but he is from the party we need and who wants 4 more horrific years of Bush? :bored:

57% of Oklahomans, that’s who.

God it’s way too close… it’s going to be another stolen/cheated election if the polls stay this way…

do we have any good people running for house/senate (by good I mean like… liberalish… friendly toward gays, porn, gambling, lotto, and drugs?)

hey holy reality and green eyes, thats so cool how close we live. i live in bartlesville. and greeneyes it sounds like you live in like talala or winginan.

The driving force behind the whole "no Gay marriage " thing, is the fact that the very religion that does all the marriage stuff is Christianity, which has clearly made it’s opinion clear (even if they don’t think it’s an opinion…).

But it’s stupid, it’s not fair that politics are being driven by Christianity. What if I’m not Christian? I’m not, in fact. So how is that fair to me?

Let’s face it, the only reason this gay thing is an issue is because of the teachings of Christianity. If they weren’t taken into account, then this would’ve ended a long time ago. Because this is no different than not allowing two people of a different race not to marry.

And so… I think it’s obvious that politics should get the hell out of religion(literally, lol). That means getting out of the marriage business completely, and making civil unions have all the rights and benefits that marriages currently have, and allowing gay and bi people to do so as well. Marriage can be left as a private affair, since it is really nothing more than a piece of a religion that happens to be in the majority.

Before anyone says it, it’ll be a mighty cold day when someone is allowed to marry a lamp, just to recieve the benefits. No, we are not on a downward spiral. This civil union will still be defined as “a union between two human adults”. No one will be able to screw with the system (any more than it already is screwed with…).

Just my 2 cents
